Deja Cummings was a loner. She was used to being by herself, especially after her mother left she and her father when she was six years old. She almost preferred it until Drake Santoro entered her life and heart until he broke it. He did not stand by her when she was accosted by his cousin and made allegations about her that were not true. She was made to feel like a whore, a golddigger. They were both young and dumb but Deja never forgave him for breaking her heart. That was twenty years ago and now Messy Mandy has drug up the old news that was sending Deja in a tizzy. She was now a strong independent businesswoman and she did not need any negative press. Drake now had the opportunity to get the only woman he loved back and he was not going to stop at anything to get her back and he didn't stop until he'd broken down her walls.

The story was a short and hot second chance romance. I just loved Drake's mother. She said anything she wanted and let both Drake and Deja know that she expected them to get married and give her grandbabies and invited them to fertilize their vineyard with their lovemaking where he and he brother were conceived. I loved it!

Oh how I laughed and how I wanted to throw this story in the trash. The two lovers were just so unforgiving for a minute. Deja with her attitude of not wanting to explain and Drake with the bone he wouldn't let go. I was so shocked by how the story ended. The meddling and the jealousy was as if it was right in the room with me. I was rooting for the two even though I thought she would rush back home. When all was said and done Drake showed Deja just how much he loved her and how much he was willing to give and go through to have the woman of his dreams back in his life. Mandy could get a bonus for being the nosy friend she is. Mrs. London gave me a read I won't forget.

I am trying to understand how Mandy fit into this series? Maybe I am confused, because I started this series by reading authors I was familiar with first. Is she supposed to be the version of Gossip Girl? Nevertheless, I enjoyed the story, but several times I could not follow the dialogue. I was not sure if it was h or H that was speaking. I was also trying to understand how the H really hurt the h. It felt like drama for the sake of drama.

Although short, this is a complete story, which while connected to the others, doesn't depend on the other stories for background information. However, reading the other stories is recommended, because they are all great reads. Deja and Drake have a story that made me laugh, got me in my feelings and heated up the pages. Recommended read.
