Rook: My caring and unselfish ways were often complimented. I assumed the praise was genuine, until my best friend of thirty years called me a “privileged prick” and suggested a therapist for my racial sensitivity issues. What issues? I was prepared to tell him what he could do with his suggestion…until I met Renata.
Warning: This novella is an interracial romance that contains subject matter that may be triggering to some individuals, explicit sexual content and is intended for adults.

The main characters of this novella, Renata and Rook were faced with some ugly hard truths, that had me stopping in my own tracks to look in the mirror, saying, "Do I do that? Or, am I that person?"
This book is funny and refreshing. It was good to see the characters look at themselves and admit that they had a problem and was willing to fix it.
Once again, Keta Kendric has exceeded my expectations. 😁
Rook knew that she was everything he was looking for in a woman, as the women he'd previously dated were only looking at his financial status. But Renata's nosey neighbor threw a bomb on their newly blossoming relationship when he posted a picture on social media of Rook enjoying Renata's spice cake. They were hoping no one would recognize them but everyone who knew them did. It was so funny how Rook's father and Renata's mother reacted to the news. Renata's mother was the typical black mother worrying about her child. You'd think that her daughter was a teenager instead of a 38 yr old grown widow.
I enjoyed reading this story. Rook learned a lot about what Renata had to endure in her life. Renata learned to put away her prejudice to see Rook as a man she was highly attracted to, regardless of what she was taught. All it took was for Rook to have a slice of Renata's spice cake and he wanted the whole darn cake. He couldn't get enough.
Rook and Renata each were volun-told to get racial sensitivity training by their friends from an exclusive program called Revelations. The program put them in socially interactive situations to highlight their learned prejudices to help them identify their biases and help them to overcome them. They were matched during the program and through getting to know and understand each other's cultural and social norms, they became attracted to each other.
Their one night of unbridled sex was captured on camera by a nosy neighbor who posted a picture to social media. Both Renata and Rook's parents saw the post and shenanigans ensue.
Renata's Mama and aunt are no joke when roasting Took about his intentions. The last chapter gave me LIFE!
I loved this 5 star story and I highly recommend it to everyone. This is my first adventure with Ms. Kendric, and I look to reading more of her stories in the future.
Renata to me was easily relatable because I've felt like her back in the day, and it took a lot of opening my mind to be more accepting of other cultures. For me this was entertaining and educational which is hard to do in such a short amount of space. Keta did a great job with that.
Loved the sex!
I think it would be dope to have a book for Dr. Westmore too.

This book was deep, makes you really think. Another well written KK book. LOL embarrassingly good.

They were both the same with their prejudices and it was lovely seeing them develop into more tolerant and less judgmental.
A wonderful story that I'd like to read more about. Perfect lunchtime chronicle.

The story is unique and deals with sensitive issues concerning racism and prejudice. Spice Cake is an interracial romance that leaves you in awe.
Both Rook and Renata have similar backgrounds, which shaped the way they thought about the other race. I absolutely enjoyed reading this book, and the story is phenomenal. Yes, it is a quick read, but there is a great build-up, and the characters have attitude and sass. The description, setting and plot made this story quite entertaining and engaging.
