Aaaaaaaaaa,I honestly feel like I just read the “Hallmark “ equivalent of a paranormal romance.
Dear lord, this was so saccharine and so sweet I’m truly grateful I’m _not_ a diabetic.
On a scale of 1-10 I’d say the drama was about a four.
Supposedly Lyric was a bit of a wild child during her teenage years and I’m betting those years had 10X the drama this did.
This story just screamed “huge drama” awaits from the books desc.
First book I ever read was the book that started the whole Ashland migration : Callie and the Cats .
The twins mothers book. I was so excited 😆.
But sadly deep disappointment and frustration was all I got.
The parents are harsh, a bit selfish and very over protective for shifter parents. Lyric is ALWAYS kind, and open and honest and always above board.
She leaves her home town determined to start her own life. She does. The twins are itching for change like their fathers before them . Lyric has literally just arrived when she meets her guys and that’s all she’s wrote.
Her parents get severely ticked off when she calls them to share the news ,like she expected. Some tension for a few days . Overly sweet mate talk. Parents pull something dumb by sending brothers to get her. It isn’t successful.
They eventually go see parents for a full moon run, things feel tense, you think finally the build up will produce some action .
No.
No. Not at all.
Run has barely started when abused “dragonfae” girls are in need of rescue . Girls are saved . One of the twins is hurt .
All is forgiven. Everyone is now all sorry and lovey dovey and the trio go home to a new job and a celebration. Woooo 😏
One sex scene ,that wasn’t very interesting. Lots of build up to nothing really . Cadence never once even tried to work things out with Callie . Nothing was really resolved. Lots tension that doesn’t really lead to anything and insta love between three ppl so kind and sweet and considerate they make the average Hallmark character seem like a vicious B from one of the “Fake Housewives of blah blah” shows.
Geez,I expected far too much of this to get sucked into buying this book but thought at least the original conflict that started it all to be resolved or at the very least to be addressed by the characters involved. But Callie and Cades only talk twice. Once for Cades to ask a Very sweet Callie to give Lyric a place to stay for a night and then once as Cades walks by her and very little is said.
Not much of a “romance” even for a fated insta love and none of the promise of the desc. is fulfilled .
Gone and not coming back again.
