You need a grammar checker and you need to check your pronouns. And the flashback stuff was very distracting and hard to get through

I very much enjoyed the activity of Lyssa discovering her new world and her power as she continued to grow. The activities of the crew and her ability to learn from them to understand Humanity to pick up emotions and feelings was very intriguing and thought-provoking.

I found the flashbacks to be extremely distracting. I didn't see what they added to the story, and they occurred with such frequency as to be an irritant in books 1 and 2.

One other very distracting saying in tempting to read the books was the improper use of grammar the improper use of pronouns and often leave a hangout nouns and verbs from sentences. This made the reading quite difficult as one had to go back and re-read it to try to discern what the missing word was or who was being spoken about. Somewhere in the publishing chain somebody needs to invest in a syntax and grammar checker there are many such products on the market they work very well.

I have read almost a dozen books in the Aeon 14 universe and while they each had some manner of syntax and grammar problems it didn't get so distracting as to motivate me to make a commment.

An oddity in time

In terms of the broad Aeon 14 universe of Michael Cooper, these Lyssa books are somewhat of an oddity. They do not really impact on the broader storylines developed in the later Aeon 14 books and as precursor to those illustrious later events, it seems to simply provide some needed background on the period of time just before the Sentience Wars in which sentient artificial intelligences rebelled. Yet it isn't a story of the rebellion either.
What it is, though, is a thoroughly enjoyable story of a remarkable family Sykes fleeing with a very remarkable SAI,called Lyssa, for a meeting near Jupiter with another oddity, Alexander. This is an epic space opera series that will keep you spellbound at the twists and adventures unfolding at a more "primitive" time period of the diaspora into space. Andy Sykes is probably the most underrated space hero in the whole Aeon 14 universe as is his daughter, Cara, as a female counterpart.
A remarkable feat in writing. But then, that is by now the norm when reading the books of Michael Cooper. Enjoy!

Good new series set in the Aeon14 universe. I find it quite interesting to see the solar system at that point in time, with quite a different technological level to our the future books, and closer to our state of technology. Interesting to also see the early AI, comparing again to the later ones, with very different beginnings for them all, leading to quite a variety of AI characters with different quirks and flaws. The core family of Andy and his two children make a good unit and characters to follow through the series.
