WHAT ARE BALL JOINTS?

A critical component of the front suspension, ball joints consist of a ball and socket similar to the hip joint of the human body. Ball joints provide pivoting movement between the steering knuckles and control arms to provide a safe, smooth ride and allow you to precisely control your vehicle.

Think your ball joints have gone bad? Worn ball joints contribute to looseness in the front suspension and prevent your vehicle from maintaining wheel alignment. You may experience steering looseness, steering vibration, unusual noises and excessive tire wear.


VEHICLE PULLING TO LEFT OR RIGHT? A failing ball joint can cause your vehicle to pull to the left or right which makes it difficult to control your vehicle. I did a near complete front end replacement on my '05 Silverado 2500HD. I replaced the pitman arm, idler arm, idler arm bracket, inner and outer tie rod ends, upper control arms, and lower ball joints. I used moog parts for everything. On the control arms, ball joints, and tie rod ends Amazon was a little less expensive than any other place i found, and with free two day shipping it was great. Parts are the genuine article and i was able to complete the project in a day and get an alignment the next morning. Very well pleased!

LOL at how many stars for "easy to install". It's a load-bearing ball joint and presses into the steering knuckle of a 4wd truck. Noting easy about the installation.

I don't rate items by stars on "thickness" any more, either.

This is a quality product, fits well and operates as designed. My impression is that it will last as long as the original did, which was 275,000 miles.

So you want to replace your lower ball joints? Well I did and the first one was a PITA. It looked good but when I disassembled the knuckle I could easily move the old joint so it was definitely bad. But....I actually had to pound it out with a sledge hammer. Then heat it up, sledge hammer and then finally the ball joint tool got it out. Good luck, these seemed to work good though.
