Great Film about the Greatest General of the 20th Century

What else can you say about this film? Peck really become MacArthur. A fine balanced depiction of his life. A real true patriot. The speech at West Point is so powerful. A red blooded american cannot help but feel proud to be live in such a great Country. His speech given when he returns to the Philippines is great and almost on par with Henry V St. Crespin day speech by Shakespeare.

MacArthur starring the late, great Gregory Peck as the controversial but highly skilled commander who led the United States and her allies to victory over the Imperial Japanese Empire during World War 2 and who later fell out with President Harry Truman, during the Korean War, is a film worth watching despite what most people thought of this enigmatic figure from the 20th Century. With a great cast, great story line, really superb action sequences and a rousing film score by the late, great Jerry Goldsmith, I would still recommend this particular Blu-Ray movie, to anyone who purchases it online from amazon.com, for both the price and availability in stock.

MacArthur led a pretty fascinating life, and there is definetly a story to tell here. However, Gregory Peck
is seriously miscast in the role. MacArthur was supposed to be a dynamic, charismatic genius, none of which
Peck conveys convincingly. Whenever Peck opens his mouth and proceeds into one of his dreary monologues,
I had to to stifle a yawn. Peck was 61 at the time of the movie, they would have been much better served if they got
an actor in his 50s or so with more charisma, energy and vitality.

Slowed by a series of tableaux

I never felt like this film was “there” for me. It was a series of set pieces. With long time jumps. I felt, like I was watching it rather than being immersed in it.

MacArthur had a way with the English language that was elegant and timeless.

DO NOT BUY -- NOT RENDERED IN HD

This BluRay release is a complete joke. Universal simply dumped the DVD version onto BluRay disc and called it "BluRay." There isn't anything HD about this release. Plus, there is no additional material. A total waste of money and a complete waste of time. Truly pathetic that Universal would resort to this kind of cheap selling tactic to scam the public.

*** IF YOU OWN THE DVD VERSION OF THIS MOVIE -- YOU HAVE EVERYTHING THAT IS ON THE BluRay!
*** DO NOT BUY ***

Not the best war classic

Considering the cast, the script is poor. The dialog is one dimensional. The director should be ashamed of this. Action is minimal.
