There are pages missing in the index. Goes from page 2812 directly to 2829 as shown in pic. Seriously disappointed. This is my first machinery's handbook and was so excited to hold it. Cant help but worry about what else is missing from my book. Hope someone makes this right for me. If so I'll update my review. But for now, dissatisfied with the money spent. The replacement book was poor quality as well. Second pic is replacement book and pages are not in order.

The good news is that the printing problems do seem to be solved in this second printing. I have a number of other thick books with high page counts, and this one doesn't stand out for having markedly thinner pages or more bleed through.
The binding, on the other hand, was an intense disappointment. The cover cracked at the spine hinge the very first time I opened the book. I've never seen that on a brand new book before. It usually takes 30 years for the materials to get brittle enough to lead to this.
I could get a replacement, but it would likely end the same way, so I guess I'm going with tape.

I love this Book. This edition is way thicker than the 28th was, and more so even than 29, which was an Anniversary Issue. Luckily I usually skip a couple editions each time it's time to repurchase. And boy am I glad I didn't get the 29th!!! This is the BIBLE as far Machinery's Handbook editions are concerned. There really is a wealth of new/re-included information in this volume. I use my Machinist Calculator a lot, but sometimes, whilst drinking coffee, and sitting at the bench, there's just something special about leafing though the ol bible and and doing things the old analog way.
Also, to me it feels somewhat precious, and even though the book may be used by dirty people, in a dirty place, the reverence for keeping it pristine is palpable and enjoyable. But I digress.
As far as, should I buy one for the first time?
If I was buying one for the first time, I'd be glad to get this one. Especially for the price for which I got it, 63 dollars with shipping from Rainbow_Books, you can not beat that with a Baseball Bat anyday of the week that'sa great deal!!! IF it's available to you from Rainbow_books and it's 59 dollars plus shipping, BUY IT! I bought from them, more than once now, and they are quick, the item arrives relatively well packaged, and mine was totally new and pristine, so. DO IT.

Review that matters:
I am a mechanical engineer by trade. One of my coworkers had this at their desk and I constantly found myself borrowing it so I finally got my own. This is a great reference in a very convenient package. The built in tabs are very nice to have. my coworkers did not have them so they were sticky noting tons of pages (not that you wont find yourself doing that on this version either).
Something that doesn't actually matter, but I still have an opinion on:
Lame cover design. Feels like the Guinness book of world records. Almost bought an old version when it had the nice leather bound covers. Hopefully this one is more durable than I think it will be since I will probably get a lot of use out of it and don't plan on replacing it.

Bought this for a good friend who is majoring in physics at a university. At some point, I told him, he'd need this to help him interface with the physical world. (He already has the CRC Handbook of Physics and Chemistry, so that wasn't a possibility) I decided on print rather than electronic or a combination; for people like him and me this is entertaining reading and the print version leads to stumbling into new information whenever you open it. There's really no replacement for this book: If your passion or profession or just interests run into machine tools, processes, materials, etc., you owe yourself a new or used copy.

No qualms about book, it has a ton of information and is a great reference guide. Pages are thin, though probably necessary without making the book twice as thick or half as useful.
Problem I have is I was not provided a CD key in my new copy of Machinery Handbook 30, which means it is a paperweight. I was really looking forward to looking up information digitally, but it looks like that is not going to happen.

awsome condition keep in mind if you have bad eyes you may need a book with bigger wordings or a magnifying glass for this book but was more than i hoped for very good quality pages an printing as well i found no flaws like everyone is saying online unless my book is one that has been revised witch it doesn’t say so very well worth it you don’t have to pay 200$ for the other books unless you want the bigger text

I'm an engineer who bought this handbook for the useful information inside. This still has great info but the build quality of the handbook itself has become terrible. Half the pages are already separated from the spine and being held together by what I'm guessing is glue. The old handbooks were much higher quality and whatever updated info they added doesn't seem worth the drop in quality. Will most likely be returning this.

My husband was delighted to receive the handbook as a Christmas present however, when he started to leaf though it one of the pages was creased and folded and another page was actually torn in the middle. This was a new copy! I'm not in a position to return it but it was a bit disappointing really.
