I was born six months before man landed on the moon. I was blessed to grow up in the country, where my family lived largely off the land.
When I wasn't fishing, exploring the woods, or weeding the garden, I devoured comic books like Two-Gun Kid and The Rawhide Kid before moving on to the exciting adventure stories of Jack London and Louis L'Amour.
Our black-and-white TV got three channels, though you could lose one and pick up another if you went outside and messed with the antenna. On its grainy screen, we watched Gunsmoke, Bonanza, and movies starring John Wayne and Clint Eastwood.

Now a husband and father, I love exploring the West and reading history and fiction alike. My favorite authors are Louis L'Amour, Elmore Leonard, C.J. Petit, and R.O. Lane.
As a writer, I hope to entertain you with fun stories of the old West. My good guys are good, my bad guys are bad, and you'll always find a touch of romance to sweeten the grit.

In the first book of this series we have a lawman torn apart and ultimately killed by four outlaws. We don't know anyone's name. Across the river a widow and her son watch the horror until the lawman is finally gone from this world. She prays and lightning strikes the dead man, bringing him back to life with his badge melted into his skin.

That's just the set up. The book has some clear connections to Louis L'Amour's Hondo, which had a widow and her son in that book. The difference is in how the widow's husband died.

Justice, and the reborn man is now called, vows to kill the four men who killed him. But first he has to recuperate, where he and the widow Nora get to know each other. This is a satisfying read in that the good guys get revenge for what's been done to them, and the bad guys get their comeuppance. It's the old west at it's best.

The editing is sharp, the characters are clear and well drawn except for a few out the outlying characters, and the story keeps moving. I'll admit to not being sure why Justice has to do what he does at the end of the book, but whatever. I'll keep reading anyway.

After having read and enjoyed all of C J Petit/ Hunt U S Marshal/ Storm Warrior and many R O Lane/and ALL of the Jess Williams series, I was surprised to read the details relating to Justice's beating and the clever way he was saved. I recommend this series to those that truly enjoy a cleverly written western. I purchased the entire series before I was finished with book 1.

Barely into the book, this Western takes on a magical quality that lends a distinct air of mystery to the man who comes to be known as Justice. Sounds like C A T with nine lives—just kidding. It does hurt though when you think of metal melted or burned into your chest?!?! Great story and characters. Justice for all!

There's romance in it, but the emphasis is on the plot and the man called Justice. It's action-packed and full of heart. I couldn't help but picture a young Clint Eastwood as Justice.

This book has a great storyline. It seems there are always evil men controlling dangerous and malicious men, who are eager to reek havoc and murder innocents. And then there are those who fight even to their own demise to protect those who can't do it for themselves. They say carma comes to all but it sure is good to read it played out for us to know, the bad men paid.

This is not a gritty, Elmore Leonard-esqe, kind of Western. Nor is it a true descendant of L'Amour or Brand or Grey...or even Parker (although many hats are tipped in those directions). Deacon is not the consummate writer that those giants of the genre are. But he's not bad, and his story is fun. He clearly loves the classic Western paperback, and that love is evident and infectious. And sometimes that's all I need from an inexpensive book. I'll be reading more of the Justice series.
