A superbly trained Special Forces soldier who served several tours fighting radical Islamic militants in Afghanistan, Steele now operates under the radar, using a deadly combination of espionage and brute strength to root out his enemies and neutralize them.
But when a man from Steele’s past attacks a military convoy and steals a nuclear weapon, Steele and his superiors at the White House are blindsided. Moving from Washington, DC, to the Middle East, Europe, and Africa, Steele must use his considerable skills to hunt this rogue agent, a former brother-in-arms who might have been a friend, and find the WMD before it can reach the United States—and the world is forever changed.

Eric Steele is the best of the best—an Alpha—an elite clandestine operative assigned to a unit known simply as “the Program.” A highly trained U.S. Special Forces soldier who spent his career fighting radical Islamic militants in Afghanistan, Steele now operates under the radar, using a deadly combination of espionage and brute strength to root out his targets and neutralize them. But sometimes the enemy gets a vote, and Steele knows all too well that every perilous mission may be his last.
Steele is on assignment in Beirut when a CIA convoy is attacked and a nuclear weapon stolen. He and his superiors in Washington are shaken. The strategic implications are bad enough, but when they investigate the incident, it becomes clear that none of this was by chance—the perpetrator is a shadowy figure from Steele’s past. Once a valued ally, he is now a formidable enemy who will stop at nothing to rain havoc down on those he believes have wronged him.
Sean Parnell uses his combat experience to recreate the adrenaline-fueled excitement and sheer terror of war in this hugely compelling, breakneck thriller. Parnell's real-life battlefield experience shows as he crafts a world in the shadows, fraught with villainy and peril, broken only by warriors willing to stand in the gap and preserve the beacon of liberty with their lives. Amidst this daunting reality, a relentless momentum leads us through shadowy mountain passes and dim city alleys as Eric Steele brings the fight to the enemy in pursuit of the truth.
Central to the thrill of the story is a cast of deep, compelling characters who are simultaneously complex and focused. Each adds a new color to Man of War's picture of hope in a bleak, twenty-first century landscape.
This book is a must-read.
Top reviews from other countries
This book is riddled inconsistencies and inaccuracies, it is also bloated with unnecessary similes. It cracks along at a reasonable pace, but has very little character development, and the action is sometimes hard to follow.
I won’t be buying any more of his fiction books, and would urge those of you interested to look at Jack Carr,
Brad Taylor, Brad Thor and Neil Lancaster books if you like this genre. They are all excellent.
