I love this movie

I love this movie. I recorded it from the TCM channel, and have watched it often.
I just ordered it from Amazon to add to my collection.
In the early sixties, things were more innocent. It is nice to watch a movie without hearing curse words and trash talk, and seeing half naked women with tattoos. And, not having to put up with some politically correct message.
Paula Prentiss fits her character perfectly. I cannot imagine any other actor for the part. And Hudson is great in his role.
The scenery of the early sixties; cars, buildings, clothing bring back fond memories.
This movie is worth the price and more.

Ridiculously dated and still a favorite

When I was growing up, this was my all-time favorite romantic movie. Two socially awkward people in a preposterous setting...? Oh my, yes, I identified with Paula Prentiss, and my favorite line is still, "Well, he could have meant it that way."

I'm not sure modern audiences will appreciate this film. Viewing it now, I winced over some of the attitudes and even how the characters were portrayed in some situations.

But, for a peek into attitudes of the mid-1960s, as women were starting to assert themselves - often without the safety net of older/wiser women's advice - this movie is a gem.

My husband and I watched it and really enjoyed it. Even the preposterous, corny scenes, and some stereotypes where we felt embarrassed for the actors.

I'm not sure the movie deserves five stars, but as a walk down memory lane... well, it was so much fun to see again, I couldn't give it fewer.

A beautiful Blu-ray. Paula Prentiss is a 110° in the shade. Tall and southern!!!

The Blu-ray I purchased provide the best quality I have ever seen in this movie. Just as good as being in a theater on opening night!

WOW! Paula Prentiss as 110° in the shade. Tall and southern, what more could you ask for?

Rock Hudson plays a fishing expert who has never actually fished, thrown into a contest by Paula Prentiss. Rock's love interest is the beautiful Paula Prentiss. Rock stars as a famous authority on fishing, dubbing it "man's favorite sport", but when he gets roped into a fishing tournament by Paula, it turns out he knows absolutely nothing about it. This movie is very silly, and it's no surprise that Rock's attentions quickly transfer from the river to man's true favorite sport: courtship.

I loved this movie from the first time I saw it. It has one of the best plots of any of the comedies of the time. Howard Hawks created another one good movie. It is not his best. It is a good one for sure, and I cannot understand why this film is so under-estimated. Rock Hudson is very good. He has a natural talent for such films. He makes people laugh without being silly or without destroying his serious image. Also Mrs Prentiss is very good.

Wide Screen Technicolor looks fantastic stereo sound essential for Rock fans or fans of the movie. Best looking movie of his I've seen. This and Pillow Talk are my favorite. It's like seeing it for the first time.

A forgotten gem!

Always loved when this movie showed up on cable. Watching it from start to finish, I am impressed with the acting, dialogue, and pacing - especially the ending. This film was made to do one thing - entertain an audience. It succeeds brilliantly! Paula Prentiss channels Carole Lombard and Rock Hudson handles the pratfalls. Hudson really reminds one of Dean Martin. Love owning this one on Amazon Video to watch again on those rainy days and Mondays...

One of the funniest Rock Hudson Movies
Verified purchase
"Man's Favorite Sport", "Bend of the River", "Send me no Flowers" and "Pillow Talk" are my favorite Rock Hudson movies. "Man's Favorite Sport" never fails to cheer me up.
Very recommendable.

My tip: try also "All That Heaven Allows" (1955) and "Never Say Goodbye" (1956), I bet you won't be disappointed. I like them even more than "Magnificent Obsession".

Great old movie

I have loved this movie since I first saw it as a kid in the theater. Still holds up as a fun movie to just enjoy and have some laughs. If you have experience with the outdoors and camping and fishing the high jinks around the main character is pretty funny. Great 2 hour get away. The blue ray is much better then my older just DVD copy, good work. Love watching it at least once a year.
