About Mar Pavon
Mar Pavón (Manresa, Spain, 1968) is a poet and storyteller, although with her penchant for always walking around with her head in the clouds, she prefers to be described as a “story dreamer.” Some of her texts for adults have appeared in various literary publications. However, her literary universe did an about-face in 1996 with the birth of her son, to whom she dedicated her first collection of poems, Yeray poeto. She has published several children’s books—some of them outside Spain—as well as poems and stories in newspapers, magazines, anthologies, and textbooks. She writes deftly in both Spanish and Catalan. Her full bibliography and many other interesting facts can be found on her website:

Winner at the 2013 Moonbeam Children's Book Awards. A fun, original tale that invite us to open our minds and free our spirits, seeing things the way a child sees them: as they really are.
A tractor came chugging down the road. Its noisy engine prevented its driver from hearing all the negative comments and reproaches people yelled as she drove past. Of course, considering the silly things some people say, sometimes it’s better when there’s lots and lots of noise! This funny woman, a farmer by profession, drove up and down with her trusty vehicle, looking empowered and and proud of her job: agriculture. Many adult citizens she encountered along the way didn’t not understand the extravagance and the uniqueness of this special and original driver. However, when a child saw her and yelled “Hi there, lady on the tractor!”, the tractor came to a halt and the lady turned off the motor and marveled at that freshness, that free spirit that only children transmit.

Bronze Medal at the 2013 Moonbeam Children's Book Awards. A fun, tongue-in-cheek story about the magic of books and the power of imagination. Mary wants to be Philberta and everyone looks at her as if she was an alien—but who is Philberta?
Mary’s dad wants to be rich. Mary’s mom wants to live in a better house. The principal of her school wants to retire, and her teacher wants to be her new principal. Like all of the other grown-ups in the little girl’s life, they spend their time wishing for things that they believe will make them feel completely satisfied. So why do they look at Mary as if she were some kind of freak when she’s got a wish of her own: to be Philberta!
Maybe the mysterious storybook that Mary always carries with her can help put an end to all these useless wishes. I Want to Be Philberta reminds us that there’s nothing more gratifying than letting yourself get carried away in the fantasy of a good book.
This wonderful book reminds us that there’s nothing more gratifying than letting yourself get carried away in the fantasy of a good book.

Winner at the 2012 Living Now Book Awards. Imagination flies free in this fun, entertaining, and sleepy time picture book for young, creative kids seeing the world in ways most of us cannot even imagine.
Zaira is a little girl who can’t stop imagining. She sees the world with such vivid colors, dreamlike shapes, that everyone fins it difficult to believe her. Her imagination soon leads her to meet some very special friends —in a fountain, right in the middle of the town square, she sees a group of dolphins playing in the water.
Everyday she goes by the fountain to say hi, but one day the dolphins weren’t there. To her distress, the fountain was empty. “You are so dreamy, Zaira. Dolphins doesn’t exist”, said some children who were playing by the fountain. At that very instant, a magic fairy appeared and rescued Zaira, bringing her the hopes and dreams she’d lost.
