Blog postI read a lot. And by read, I mean I listen to audiobooks. I usually scroll the best sellers list on Amazon and hope something pops up that looks interesting… something that I haven’t read before. Sometimes it’s rough… I read so much, that finding good material is like finding a clean bathroom in a frat house.
The other day I was walking through a Barnes and Noble, and a title that caught my eye in the New Releases section…. WIN, by Harlan Coben. I picked it up and it turned out to be1 week ago Read more -

Last week I had a much-needed getaway. It’s been harder to get out of town, but we decided on getting a cabin through Airbnb, and go someplace, like Estes Park.
The hiking/views were great, the cabin… not so much.
I took my laptop, planning on doing a little writing. But plans change. When we got to the cabin it was directly on a busy highway, and there was a small patch of dirt next to the highway (in front of the cabin), where we were supposed to park our car.1 month ago Read more -
Blog postI don’t like the cold weather. The last 3 days it was -8, and that’s too cold for me. So, I realize I need to look for the pros of the winter season in order for me to get on with it.
Here’s what I came up with:
More time to work, with fewer distractions.
Time to get caught up on cleaning out my sock drawer.
An excuse to buy a new winter coat.
Enjoying the fireplace I put in my refurbished basement.
Watching my dogs roll in the snow.

Blog postAs you all know by now, I love my dogs. Sammi is our 6-year-old golden retriever and besides being unusually shy, she is pretty typical for her breed… mischievous, and adorable. And like most goldens, she loves toys… of the stuffed variety.
She especially likes to grab one when she is about to greet someone, a peace offering.
When we go on walks she leaves her toys at home. There are lots of scents, other people and dogs, trees, and other things to keep her occupied. Yesterday3 months ago Read more -
Blog postWelcome, 2021. It’s been an interesting year. I’m usually a pretty upbeat person, but 2020 was a tough one. Wouldn’t it be nice to turn on the news and hear more positive and a little less negative?
I, for one, am happy to say goodbye to the past 12 months. GOODBYE.
I’m not much for resolutions, but this year, I would definitely like to travel more. As a writer, I rely on travel, seeing new places, and meeting new people as a way to gain a new perspective, which helps with my3 months ago Read more -
Blog postHi Everybody,
First off, I’m sorry that I haven’t written a post in a while. A lot has happened…. A pandemic, racial unrest, an uncertain economy, and a new election. Through all of it, I’ve still been writing, kicking out a book every 3 to 4 months. My wife, Kim, lost her job after COVID hit and is now doing the marketing for my books.
Even though it’s approaching the middle of November, I kind of feel like it’s the beginning of a new year. And, I, for one, would like to do bet5 months ago Read more -
Blog postI get asked this ALL THE TIME . . . What is my favorite book, out of all the MWM books I’ve written? It’s a tuff question to answer. I like all my books for different reasons.
But, for the sheer fun factor, I guess it would have to be the mostly unread, undiscovered, Lone Star Renegades. A group of high school kids get abducted when Earth is invaded by aliens. But this is no YA book – the gang can curse and swear (like real high schoolers), there’s relentless bullying, and there’s irrev10 months ago Read more -
Blog postIt comes before the floodwaters—before the floodgates are crested and toppled. Its start is insignificant, like a trickle of water that grows in volume and breadth, cautiously making its way into a dry and barren desert. Obstacles: Rocks, unforeseen elevations, skeletal remains … This is the start—the emergence, the burgeoning of a great idea. The genesis of your next, unstoppable, manuscript.

Blog postAs a Sci-Fi writer, I’ve lately found it uniquely satisfying to write about my present hometown—Castle Rock, Colorado. When I first contemplated on penning a story that would take place in this small rural town where I live, my main motivation was the time and energy it would save me from having to research out some other more distant location. For instance, my supernatural spy novel, Mad Powers, primarily took place in Washington, DC. I’d spent a week there, along with my wife, scouting out2 years ago Read more

USS Hamilton: Broadsides
Jan 13, 2021
$4.99
Hold tight . . . things are about to get bumpy
Sitting in his oppressively small 10 x 10 cell at the Norfolk Naval Station’s Brig, Captain Galvin Quintos awaits his impending court-martial. That’s when he has a most unexpected contact by Fleet Commander Admiral Block. He’s proposing an off-book, secret operation—one coming at the request of the Pleidian Weonan Empress Shawlee Tee. For Quintos, telling Shawlee “no” was never an option. Unfortunately, according to the admiral, this very well could be a mission of no return. The war with the Grish has turned desperate and the Alliance is tallying far more losses than wins. To complicate matters, all other US Space-Navy warship assets have been deployed to various hot spots within the quadrant. As for the mission, Fleet Commander Twinwon and his crew are on the run from a fleet of eighteen Grish Warships somewhere out within the farthest reaches of frontier space. The Empress knows she has no right to ask, but she has no one else to turn to—she needs Quintos and the USS Hamilton’s crew— and she needs them now. Sure, this rescue may be coming too late—but no one ever said being a hero was easy.
First problem—how the hell will Quintos escape from a Norfolk high-security detention facility…

USS Hamilton Sequel
Broadsides is an outstanding sequel to the USS Hamilton series. Hardcore military science fiction from Mark Wayne McGinnis. I'm a big fan. Carson Wheeler
Just as Good as Scrapyard Ship
I've been a fan of Mark's since he wrote Scrapyard Ship. It was one of the best space opera books I've ever read. USS Hamilton Broadsides, and the USS Hamilton series is just as good. I love a great military scifi story, and McGinnis delivers every time.
Terrence B.
Great Military Science Fiction
Mark Wayne McGinnis has done it again. Space opera and military scifi come together in the USS Hamilton (3rd book in the series). Broadsides is fun, exciting, and just a purely entertaining book. As long as Mark keeps writing, I will continue to devour his books. Phillip Raskin
This makes scifi fun again!
Very enjoyable read. TIRED of reading books where the main character is always conflicted and overwhelmed. This was refreshing, enjoyable, fun, surprising, and a darn good read. Thanks Mark! Greg
Great Book!
Book 2 of the USS Hamilton series is even better than the first. Plenty of well-written action and character development. Great plot and resolution. I can't wait for the next book in the series. It is a fast read it is so entertaining. David A. Kickbusch
Better than Star Watch
I love Mark Wayne McGinnis. Always fun and entertaining. I've read his books from the beginning: Scrapyard Ship, Star Watch, Ship Wrecked, and the rest. The USS Hamilton Boadsides a great blend of military scifi and space opera, and I whole-heartedly recommend the USS Hamilton series who wants to kick back and get lost in a good story. Well done.

I love good science fiction and I've read many authors including BV Larson and Craig Alanson. Mark is the best. If you don't believe me, pick up Scrapyard Ship or Star Watch or Ship Wrecked and read them. The USS Hamilton is just as good, if not better than his earlier works.

Well-Written Space Opera
This is an enjoyable romp. The never say die crew on a sure be one-way mission grabbed me and never let go. I read it in one sitting. This was fun; not as much fun as sex with a black-haired woman or a wild child redhead in her early twenties. But easily besting spending a night with a massively self-involved blond.

"All I can say is WOW. I mean really, WOW. Got my heart beating like a kettle drum." Tony Gianopoulos
Captain Galvin Quintos had returned home to Earth soon after liberating Ironhold Station from a ruthless band of Pylorian pirates. But the Grish had been waiting for his transport ship—an attack he barely survived. Now, three months later, he’s still recuperating within the walls of Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. Just today, Quintos has learned of a new intergalactic adversary—a highly advanced alien force, the Varapin – who are currently en route from the Andromeda Galaxy. Intel has it, these ghoulish-looking aliens are now aligned with the Grish, and together, they’re hell-bent on annihilating all humanity. Quintos, certain his crew has already moved on to other posts, and his ship, the USS Hamilton, surely is still in space dock with battle damage. He must figure out how to get back into the fight, and do so fast.

USS Hamilton: Ironhold Station
May 9, 2020
$4.99
The surprise attack within the Auriga Star System was worse than brutal, it was heinous—leaving the US-Navy's 3rd Fleet decimated. Thousands of crew are reported dead, including the ship’s Captain. Reluctantly, the young XO, Galvin Quintos, will be taking command of the fleet's crippled dreadnaught, the USS Hamilton, while doing his best to bring fleet survivors back to Earth. Going from bad to worse, there’s a murderer running loose onboard the ship. Add to that fuel levels are critically low, and the Grish are back and in fast pursuit—ready to finish what they’d started. Only by sheer luck, along with a good measure of cagey smarts, will Quintos be able to rise the challenge.
This is one the best military science books I’ve read in the past 10 years! James Wright
If you like BV Larson, you’ll love MWM’s latest book - thanks for a fun, exciting read! PK

"Brilliant book! Absolutely loved it!!"
"This first book was great. Could not stop reading it"
"Wonderful story! Well written"
Lieutenant Commander Jason Reynolds has had a string of bad luck lately -- evident by the uncomfortable house arrest bracelet strapped to his right ankle. Worse yet, he’s relegated to his grandfather’s old house and rambling scrapyard. To complicate things, the women in his life are pulling from every direction. But It’s through a bizarre turn of events that Jason is led to a dried-up subterranean aquifer hundreds of feet below ground. Here he discovers an advanced alien spacecraft, one that will propel his life in a new direction.
The adventure begins… and with it, new troubles for Jason: The Craing, an unstoppable interstellar threat, is headed right for Earth. A desperate situation goes from bad to worse as the Alliance crumbles.
Fortunately, Jason’s unorthodox and impetuous nature seems to work in his favor as he moves up to the captain’s chair. First order of business is to reconnect with his SEAL team compatriots and face this enemy head-on. What's at stake? The very survival of the human race.
This is a full-length 70,000-word novel, first in the science fiction adventure series for Scrapyard Ship. Also, note... the complete Scrapyard Ship and continuing Star Watch series is also now available!

HAB 12 (Book 2)
Captain Jason Reynolds faces new challenges, not only on Earth but from the far side of the universe as well. The only way to stop the Craing this time will be to square off with them on their home turf.
Jason's been informed that three powerful Craing warships, having similar technology as The Lilly, will soon be en route to Earth. The Alliance must destroy the Craing's wormhole means of distant space travel to avert Earth's total annihilation. Unfortunately, there's no way to reach the Craing worlds in time, at least not through conventional means.
It's up to Jason and his hand-picked assault team to traverse, by advanced phase-shifting means, through the hazardous environment of HAB 12. This is an adventure fraught with carnivores of a Jurassic Age magnitude, and a terrain so deadly that turning back may be their only hope of survival.
SPACE VENGEANCE (BOOK 3)
Captain Jason Reynolds is back! In the third installment of the Scrapyard Ship sci-fi adventure series, Space Vengeance, Jason, his family, and The Lilly's crew face the impending destruction of their internal nano-devices. What's worse, what remains of the Craing fleet, some 1500 warships, is back and headed straight toward the already decimated planets within Allied space. In what looks to be a one-way suicide mission, Jason must leave Nan and Mollie behind on Earth and out of harm’s way.
While war rages on sixty light years from Earth, maniacal space raider Captain Stalls and hundreds of his pirated warships close in on Earth. Stalls knows exactly what he wants: to find and kill Captain Reynolds and take the beautiful Nan Reynolds for his own.

Note from the author:
Don't be surprised by cliff-hanger endings. I'll do my best to keep Scrapyard Ship as well as the Tapped In series books coming so you wont have long to wait for the next book. Enjoy!
The Scrapyard Ship sci-fi "cliff-hanger" adventures continue with HAB 12, the second book in the series:
Captain Jason Reynolds faces new challenges, not only on Earth but from the far side of the universe as well. The only way to stop the Craing this time will be to square off with them on their home turf.
Jason's been informed that three powerful Craing warships, having similar technology as The Lilly, will soon be en route to Earth. The Alliance must destroy the Craing's wormhole means of distant space travel to avert Earth's total annihilation. Unfortunately, there's no way to reach the Craing worlds in time, at least not through conventional means.

Craing Dominion (Book 5)
The Wild Wild Wild ride continues ... Welcome to Craing Dominion, Book 5 of the best-selling Scrapyard Ship series.
Truly dark times have come to the Allied forces, the crew of The Lilly, and Earth — we knew they were coming but nothing will have prepared you for this …
With the introduction of Craing commander Ot-Mul, there’s a new standard for evil that will not only shape the rest of this series, but Science Fiction literature as a whole.
Join Captain Jason Reynolds as he ventures into the proverbial lion’s den in a last ditch effort to even the playing field with the Craing — an empire that has embarked on a pursuit that will guarantee their de facto dominance for millennia to come.
The Great Space (Book 6)
They knew the day would come—the day when Earth itself would come under direct attack by the Craing. After destroying much of Jhardon and the Mau planet of Carz-Mau, an elite Vanguard fleet of seven Craing dreadnaughts, planet killers, enters Earth’s orbit. Captain Jason Reynolds and the crew aboard his Caldurian ship, The Lilly, are once again pulled into action to fend off what just might be their most ruthless and powerful adversary yet. In an unanticipated turn of events, thousands of molt weevils are unleashed on Earth, swarming insectoid aliens with one intent … kill every man, woman, and child on the surface of the planet. Nan and Mollie must utilize their own cunning and resourcefulness to stay alive long enough to be rescued.
Call To Battle (Book 7)
Welcome to the final, heart-pounding, episode of the Scrapyard Ship series books. It’s all about to end in one climatic crescendo.
The story continues, with Captain Jason Reynolds, and his team: Billy, Rizzo, and the rhino-warrior, Traveler. They must attempt to rescue Ricket and Gaddy, still held captive aboard the impregnable Dreathlor prison barge. Only then, can Jason return to The Lilly, his highly advanced Caldurian vessel … where it all began.
The elusive Admiral Ot-Mul, leader of the Craing Drac-Vin forces, has not only survived, but thrived, in the far, outer-reaches of space. With hundreds of thousands of warships under his command, Ot-Mul’s combined fleets are on the move. But, in truth, he cares about little else than making one man suffer … Captain Jason Reynolds.
With the approach of an enormous fighting force on the horizon, it’s the last call to battle.

Stranded, Loham Babar has spent the last fifteen months living amongst humans. During the day, he’s a South Chicago high school janitor, slopping a mop around from nine o’clock to three o’clock five days a week. At night, hiding out in an old boarded-up factory, he attends to his damaged interstellar spacecraft—making repairs—counting the days when he can return to his homeworld of Calunoth. All he needs to do is mind his own business—avoid any messy human dramas for just a few more weeks. But it is on one of those quiet nights when he hears them outside—the MP140s. Named for a police radio code for murder, these bangers are among the worst, most ruthless killers in the entire city. Peering down from the 3rd-floor window, Babar recognizes the quiet hermit boy below him, the one with the ugly facial scars, walking into a death trap. Little does Babar realize at the time that this scared, complicated, seventeen-year-old will be the key to saving the distant Realm of Dom Dynasty.
"Fantastic Military Sci Fi! Action, humor, interesting aliens, and multi-dimensional characters - just an awesome military science fiction story from Mark Wayne McGinnis. Same fun style as BV Larson, but more creative." - Barry Hecht
"OUTSTANDING SPACE OPERA! The first scifi book I read was Have Space Suit, Will Travel, by Robert Heinlein. The book hooked me on scifi for life. I have read thousands of scifi books, and was pleasantly surprised that Gun Ship compared very well with my first scifi book. Space opera, non stop action, saving the world, all that good stuff." - DBM
What an amazing Space Adventure! This was one of the most enjoyable sci fi books I've read in years. Kudos to the author for writing a truly fun space adventure. Dan Major
A Great Read! I am a big fan. Read the Scrapyard and Shipwrecked series. There is always non stop action. - Phil Leininger

"I LOVED this book!"
"Great Book!"
"Get Another Fix!
"Fun and Great Series!"
"The crazy ride continues... and never lets up!"
Note from the author:
If you've made it to this third installment, you already realize this is an ongoing series. With that said, more often than not these books have cliff-hanger endings!
