OMG!! What a surprising story. With two characters we have read about in previous stories from Rescued from Ruin series. I absolutely loved Phineas Brand the Earl of Holstoke and Lady Eugenia Huxley daughter of the Earl of Berne. We meet Genie at 14 years of age and again at 16. She is a precocious teen. She is now 22 a spinster. (I am Sick of Spinsters stories) Genie is riddle with a scandal when she was 19. Her with a footmen and her skirts hiked up to her chin. Oh my But if you have read the snippets about Genie in prior books it will make you wonder what really happen with the Footmen. Hummm!!

Holstoke the peculiar but Genius Earl who we met when he was courting Maureen in "Confessions of a Dangerous Lord" Bk.7. Who happens to be one Genie's older sisters. His mother who we now know was the Primvale Poisoner. Who rained terror on the Beau Monde for a decade makes him scary to the marriage minded momma's of the Ton.

Phineas and Genie are a perfect couple because noting is what it seems with these two. You have to rely on your previous knowledge of the couple. I think the author Elisa Braden did an excellent job of matching this two together. But she always does pick the perfect matched pair for her H/H

There appears to be a copy cat killer in this story. Which I found disturbing at first but as I continued to read it made perfect sense.

I am Sorry I have finished this series for now. I hope we get another book in the Rescued from Ruin series very soon. I think after I catch up with my TBR list I will go back a Re Read the entire series. Its that good. I Highly Recommend to all lovers of Historical Romance to Read the "Rescued From Ruin series". I also, Recommend you read it in order. It makes for one big Romantic, Mysterious, Sensual Read. I Just Loved It!!

Elisa Braden Cannot Write Her Books Fast Enough for Me!

I read it in 2 sittings becuse I had to go to work! Drat!!

Wonderful plot line as always and I didn't see this one coming. I remember Genie from Book 7. She is Maureen's younger sister (Brat) that even as a teenager challenges Holstoke. And I had forgotten that Genie was known for designing wonderful hats. Being a Master Gardener I loved the botanical detail (not that I am personally interested in poisonous plants), the descriptions of the gardens and Holstoke's work developing new plants and still being denied membership in the horticultural society. Her supporting details are always a glimpse into the characters. I am sure we will see more of this couple because Hannah has been left hanging and of course Kate Huxley will be needing a story. This one could have been a little longer for me, adding some more prep for Hannah's eventual story but Iam not complaining.

As I always say, read them all, read them in order. Elisa is one of my top 4 romance authors. She can't write them fast enough for me.

This book was absolutely divine! I confess that I have already read this book twice in the past two days! I have only read books 7, 8, and 9 of the Rescued from Ruin series, but I do not feel that I missed out on anything. The story was very easy to understand on those books alone. The hero was swoon worthy to say the least! I absolutely adored Phineas! He was quiet and intelligent, but also extremely sexy! The only thing that I didn’t like is that Phineas was too preoccupied by Maureen for the first half of the book. She had rejected him SIX years ago! She was pregnant with her FIFTH child! Really, man....get some pride and get over it already! The heroine in this story was incredibly likable. She said what she meant and wasn’t afraid to go after what she wanted. There was a murder mystery involved, but it never took away from the romance like it did in book 7. Very entertaining read and well worth the time and money. I cannot wait for Hannah and Jonus’s Story!

I was given an ARC for an honest review. “A Marriage Made in Scandal” by Elisa Braden is book nine in the Rescued from Ruin Series. In my opinion this is the best book in the series, of course I say that about each book in the series after reading them. This book is very well written which sucks you into the story line and makes you feel a part of it from the characters to the descriptions of the setting. Elisa is very good about bringing characters from previous books into her story which gives you glimpses in to their lives today.
The chemistry between Phineas and Eugenia was off the charts with steamy love scenes as well as a wide array of emotions from humor, sadness, anger and angst. There was the added suspense of murder and mystery that made this book a real page turner. I can’t wait to read Hannah and Mr. Hawthorn’s story in the next book in the series.

Another five star read from Elisa Braden. From book 1 of the Rescued from Ruin series, she has captivated this reader. This offering is no exception.

I squealed with delight when I learned that this pairing would take place. Opposites in every way. The cool, logical controlled earl with the vivacious, impetuous younger sister of the woman he unsuccessfully wooed in an earlier book. Boy, did the sparks fly.

I truly enjoyed the mystery/danger aspects of this story. Braden kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the book. Her prose was tight and on point. It was a delight. I’ve always enjoyed reading about the Huxley family and they alongside Lady Wallingford did not disappoint.

I look forward to the next installment of one of favorite auto buy series.

Absolutely loved this one! I had been hoping for a Holstoke story, and who knew Genie would be his perfect match. Neither are perfect people, they are both peculiar in their own way. Genie makes some mistakes in her actions and Holstoke does so with his words, but they eventually work it all out in spectacular fashion. A murderous plot again, continuing from Dunston's story. It does not detract from or overwhelm the romance though. Can't wait for Hannah to have her story (please please actually be with Hawthorne, because there is definitely more to be told there).

Book 9 in the Rescued from Ruin series and the books just get better and better! I loved this story which is a bit of a who-done-it but with everything that you come to expect from Elisa’s books: a love story with some angst, beautifully rounded characters and exquisitely written. Phineas Brand, Earl of Holstoke, and Eugenia are complete opposites in nature, but complement each other absolutely as they help each other to over come the personality traits that make it so difficult for them to cope with society: His aloof, analytical nature and her impulsiveness with, at times, thoughtlessness. With Genie holding a tendre for Phineas for some years, perhaps their love for each other grows at a slightly different rate, but their love grows strong within a plot that brings back much loved characters from earlier in the series, such as Dunston who is married to Genie’s perfect sister. (It was lovely to see that marriage has done him the world of good.) We also meet again the indomitable Lady Wallingham without whose witticisms and actions link much of the series. In fact, Genie seems to me to be a younger version of Lady W and I can so easily see how, given time she would be as much a paragon as the older lady!
While the book could be read as a stand alone, I would recommend reading the others because there are consequences from them that play a large part in the plot of ‘A Marriage Made in Scandal’ and Holstoke’s wicked mother’s deeds still haunt Phineas as several murders seem to point to him as the perpetrator. But of course all is well that ends well, for Elisa likes to provides us with happy endings for her heroes and heroines. Which I love. Something else that I love is that throughout the series she brings back older, much loved characters, so that we know something of their lives together, but Elisa also brings to life new characters that just much have their own story. I can’t wait for them!

Loved this book!It truly got to my heart,why!?Because we have an unlikely pair who complement each other and offers us an insight to a deeper emotion when it comes to relationships.
What do you do when you have two scandals in hand,with a third one on the way,you try to make the best of the situation and it was executed in beautiful manner.
The hero,Phineas, is marked by a black past that it was not made that way by any fault of his and yet it marked him as a child and as a man as well,he has a closed of and cold nature and doesn't know how to deal with emotions.But at the same time,he has a protective streak a mile wide and I thought,that for someone who can't express well emotionally,he revealed to have quite a big heart behind that stony face he is showing everyone and he is doing so,by being protective.The heroine,Genie,how I loved her and understood where she was coming from,seeing that "spark" in her sisters marriages,prompted her to do a rather big mistake and a foolish one at that.But,I rather thought that the author wanted to show us a Genie that wanted desperately that "spark" for herself and paid dearly for it,as the scandal that was provoked made her a pariah and forced her to distance herself from her family.But even so,she is still the same blunt and opinionated woman and extremely impulsive,especially when it comes to aid someone,that someone being Phineas.
Their relationship is a bit of a slowburn with quite a bit of a built up,as the hero starts opening his heart to her and Genie getting past his infatuation with her sister,it was more than a bit heart breaking for Genie,but a more determined or stronger heroine,I have yet to read about.But when they come together,they are explosive,yeas you read that right,it's simply explosive,the love they feel for each other comes of the pages,the hurdles they have to pass and everyone who rather thinks they don't belong together and how they get there,make this book brilliant.
At the same time,the book is filled with suspense,as Phineas past won't stay "dead" and buried and it's putting in danger everything he cares about.
It was a magnificent story and I had a pleasant surprise in reading about many of the characters in the previous books.The only complaint I had,even if I know that at the time the society had a way to be dreadful with an unmarried miss,was the way Genie was treated and I'm sorry to say,that even the family had a "jab" at her misfortune.I know,I know she was the one to "blame" and knew the consequences,but still,I had a bit of a problem getting over the fact.

P.S.If you want a heartfelt book filled with suspense and witty characters,you might just dive in and have wonderful time with it.It's worth it.

I have eagerly awaited all the books in this series and then blown away when it arrived but was not convinced by this one. I think too much of the story was given over to those who will obviously represent book ten and this detracted from the current story and it also meant that the bad guy was somewhat overlooked. This 4 is mainly because of it's predecessors. Def worth a read but wasn't up to the usual standard sadly..

From the Rescued from Ruin series comes another consistent stablemate. Most of the characters have already been introduced in earlier stories and this is an entertaining device for those who have followed the series thus far. If this is the first one you come across I think you may be a little bamboozled. Elisa Braden doesn't do clunky explanation which is great for those involved in the series arc however there is just enough background information to keep a newbie interested. The hero is one of the harder-to-like characters of the pack. Not that he isn't handsoe and dashing and great in the sack but because of his (slightly implausible) back story. The heroine too is one of my lesser favourites. HOWEVER - if you notice I have given this a four star rating as it is an excellent story with fleshed-out plot and characters and tons of historical accuracy. Elisa writes erotica beautifully and she dosn't disappoint in this tale. She is by far my favourite historical romance author and I await with batied breath for her next venture.
