I am a 47 y/o trying to get into a Medical Assistant Course and need to pass a math test first but I can’t afford a private tutor, so I bought this book and is helping me tons ..a lot of Practice sheets.
I love this book! I like math but struggled with it in school because the teachers I had didn't want to help slow learners like me. I am 55 years old with a 13 yr old child who is a slow learner, a bit worse off than I was. This book has finally helped me understand fractions and helped me to teach my son who is now working through this book independently. I pray to find a grammar workbook that turns the lightbulb on like this mathbook has with me and my son..
I taught Adult Ed last school year and had a student who was literally shaking when she had to do some fraction work. She just couldn't get it. I bought this book to use with her, and she started to understand fractions! I also sat and worked one-on-one with her for a couple of hours. This book goes slowly and thoroughly.
Because I didn't let the students write in it, several other of my students benefited from it as well!
Provides challenging problems with instructions and is not overly redundant. It steps up the challenge level appropriately and is a good way to supplement what kids are learning in school or to give them a head start on fractions.
I needed this book for college intro algebra because fractions are the one thing I still struggle with. This was easy to understand and I could find anything I needed quickly. Good deal
A brilliant book if your child needs lots of repetition to consolidate methods like mine does! He went from being clueless at the beginning to zipping through them at the end and doing them confidently which is a bit of a miracle for a child who hates maths and really struggles with it. Lots of questions to answer, it's a good chunky book so you won't feel short changed. Well worth the money. My son's in year 5 and this has definitely got him to his class expectation level. We are now using the division book from the same series which is also going well.
