Authors I had no idea could write together were excellent matches! Every story maintained the quality of the authors’ previous writing while including some of their most popular characters in each story.

I really am a huge fan of all of these people. The only disappointment was the Gabaldon one - of all the people Cotton had to run into in Scotland, Geillis was one of the last people I wanted him to meet. He did manage that meeting very well but she’s my least favorite person in the Outlander saga and I didn’t want her to show up. The story had an excellent ending, though. I did enjoy every short story in this book and that is unusual as there are usually one or two not worth the read. Thanks for a great collaboration between great authors, this was a good read.

My only wish is that I could count them each separately so they would really speed me toward my reading challenge goal in Goodreads! LOL!

Really liked the variety of ideas and story lines in this book. Finding more books by some authors to read more involving some of the characters.

From Temperance Brennan of TV's "Bones" fame going head to head with loner Jack Reacher to paranormal matchup Lucan Thorne and Lilliane of the Desire Exchange this book has it all. And the book is no light weight sampler. Some of the stories are rather lenghty, allowing for good plot development. Even if you aren't familiar with the characters beforehand, you are sure to enjoy these pairings of problem solving duos.

I am an avid Lee Child fan and have purchased all his books; this was the major factor which drew me to purchase Match Up.

Match Up is an assortment of stories, each story collaberated on by 2 different authors per story. Because the stories are short, some of them felt disjointed in order to reach an early conclusion. There was insufficient description of the characters and some of the stories lacked background. I found the format unappealing and much prefer a full length novel.

What really enticed me to buy this book was the collaboration between Val McDermid and Peter James but i was also looking forward to maybe finding some new UK writers of the genre that i hadn't tried yet. Unfortunately ALL the others were American which spoiled it for me as i don't like their version of our language. In fact even the one collaboration i was looking forward to had American spellings in the script which i know the original authors would not have used. To sum up; great if you like reading in American English not so great if you don't.

The objective of a short story in my mind is that the narrative needs to be sharp, concise and cleverly constructed leading usually to an unanticipated ending. All this selection met that objective.
