On Hallowe'en night, Mathilda Honeycutt finds out she's a SuperWitch. Not the modern, hippie kind...the real, wand-wielding, pixie-dust kind. After a life devoted to retail and coffee drinks, Mathilda is thrown into the secret world of witches, werewolves, vampires, faeries, you name it, it exists!
As Mathilda discovers her magic, she also discovers she's prophesied to save the world. The problem is, she'd rather spend her time on online auctions bidding on fabulous designer shoes.
Now, she's got to save the world, run her coffee house and figure out what's going on with the silent, watchful (but yummy) Sebastian Wilding and brainy, charismatic (and hot) Dr. Aidan Seymour.
Making matters worse, her nemesis is a powerful witch who doesn't mind fighting dirty.
Will Mathilda be able to save the world while still being perfectly accessorized? And how is she going to pick between Luscious Sebastian and Dreamy Aidan?
Lastly, will she ever get the hang of riding around on a broom?

Yes, Mathilda, SuperWitch is written and diary style. And yes, when you begin to read it, it is quite annoying. What annoyed me the most wasn't the diary style of writing so much, it was all Mathilda's inner thoughts after inner thoughts and brackets upon brackets within the book. It took a while for me to train my mind to ignore them.
Mathilda herself was also quite annoying at times. She is a 34 year old woman, but the way she carries on and by the way that she thinks, she could have just as easily been 15. She came off as quite immature, and she was such a drama queen!
After I got past my issue with Mathilda's inner thoughts and all the brackets within the story, the book actually flowed quite nicely and I was totally hooked!
There's a taste of every paranormal and magical creature in this story. There's a lot of action and a story line that kept me guessing throughout. There are TWO heroes with totally opposite personalities, but who are both equally lovable.
I thought the book ended quite well. The storyline, for the most part, finished nicely. The annoying thing? We as readers are left wondering which of the two heroes Mathilda is going to choose! We are left hanging! Without even the tiniest clue as to which was she is going to swing!
I sure hope that the sequel to Mathilda, SuperWitch isn't too far away. I feel for those who have read it in previous years and are still waiting for the second book!
The main character is Mathilda and she is a HOOT. Wish the other female characters had more depth. Lots of funny parts. Many names and small stoeies in the book which makes this SCREAM for a series...But Amazon isn't showing this as an option. Shock, especially since it is an earlier work of Kristin Ashley.
Heroine\protangonist is Matty/Mathilda. She reads like a Janet Evanovich Stephanie Plum character. Then bring on the equally strong dominant men, Aidan and Ash.
Oh, be ready to have every single character get Nick name, even two, and try to keep up. Very childish.
Anyway, the side kicks can be more bland than substantial however a few get parts in some humor laugh aloud scenes.
Wouldn't mind giving this a chance if indeed a series spins off. There was enough to peak interests in Aidan, Ash, Mavis, and Addison not to mention BecBec and Josie and Rory.
So, for supernatural humor and fast read, worth a go!
Now, I gave this one another try now that it's been revamped. I do have to say it's MUCH better than I remember it was. Still, not a fan of journal stories or love triangles. I'm used to KA alpha men who will NOT share and not only is this a choice between two men, she's in love with both and seeing both. These two men are sharing... I REALLY don't like that either. Sigh.
Still, it was entertaining, fun read that is totally KA with Matty and her fashion, boy craziness and friends. Just not a lot of romance that isn't small scenes with each guy.
BTW, I'm rooting for Ash.
I’m moving happily along to Book 2.
I think more people should give this a chance. It was a fun, lighthearted book. I actually hope we get to see more of Mathilda!
** SPOILERS **
The two guys, that was a twist. I was sure it would be resolved, it wasn't. For some reason, the love triangle didn't bother me as much as I expected it to. I actually liked both guys, if I had to pick, I'm not sure that I could. Ash? Aidan?
Top reviews from other countries

Firstly, I listened to the audio and loved the narrator, Susannah Jones!
Next, this story was actually set in my city! Claim to fame right there and it was full of English things like Tesco and English TV, love that!
So basically Mathilda is 30 and just found out she is a witch and a witch who is the object to a prophesy, the chosen one. She is all over the place, a bit kooky and a lot of fun.
Oh did I mention that she has to marry one of 2 men but she doesn't know which one from the prophesy? I hate a love triangle but I persevered but I certainly had my fave!
This was sort of told in calender month, diary format, was action packed, funny and hawt in that normal KA style!
One criticism, the word 'ack' was used so much I wanted to scream!
And that ending. Wholly unsatisfying! And why isn't the guy that I don't like from their triangle not dead?!!!

This book is written in diary format, as Mathilda has just discovered that she is from a long line of witches and tha she is prophised to be a Super Witch, hence she starts her own Book of Shadows.
Mathilda is a fashion concious American, who moves to England to help her aunt re-establish her coffee shop. Along the way, she meet lots of new people, supernatural or normal. She also meets two yummy men ( broody Ralph Fiennes type Sebastian aka Ash is my fave :))
There is so much about this book that I love - thats its mostly set in the UK, Mathilda is very funny, loves her clothes etc, Becbec the fairy, Mathilda's aunt and that the story never lags or gets boring !
I have kept this review short as i don't want to spoil the story for anyone, and i want everyone to enjoy it as i did !
Overall, very funny, magic, otherworld creatures, romance, two sexy men and a great story line - what more could i ask for ?
SO buy it now peeps, you won't be disappointed !
Definately a keeper....so when is the next book out ?

It's a bit different from the series that I love - Dream Man, The Three, Unfinished Heroes (and I'm sure the upcoming Chaos series!!) - you know the ones: hot, heavy & sexy - but it's still a fantastic read. Nowhere near as steamy as you would expect from KA but the romance was still there.
Kristen took a girl who had no idea she was a witch and threw her into the magic world. She chucked in a kooky family, a witch coven, some great & loyal friends, a trendy coffee shop and 2 hot and very competetive 'bodyguards'.
The plot was really good - there were a few twists and turns, a lot of laugh out loud moments, a few 'gasp & I can't believe its' - which had me a little bit teary eyed - and an ending that set us up for a future book on the life and times of Mathilda and her friends!!
Definitely in the 'read again' category.... Check out Mathilda now, you'll be glad you did!!!
