5.0 out of 5 starsA Wonderful Film

I have been a fan of this film for over 20 years. The confusion and pain that both Maurice AND Clive experience due to their true love, desire and need for each other, but can never fully show towards one another is so heartbreaking. How Clive tried to keep Maurice in his life, while also marrying Anne showed how desperate he was in needing to keep up appearances. Yet, if Clive hadn't done that, Maurice would have never met Alec Scudder. A man, who was able to say "Damn Everyone Else", because he wasn't going to allow anyone else from keeping him happy and being with Maurice. It's one of the first HEA films that featured two gay male characters, that was initially released back in 1987. Amazing!!

I've watched this five times in the past week. Just watch it. Like right now. It broke my heart and left me wanting more yet still leaving me so satisfied with the end. Boo seriously, just watch it.

5.0 out of 5 starsLGBTQ themed coming of age film

From several decades ago, this film ages well. Very high production values broaden the appeal of this coming of age tale set in the UK as private schoolmates discover their sexuality. The locations are beautiful and effective, and the romance is often understated and mellow, never overly dramatic. The drama unfolds at a deliberate pace, allowing you to savor the action. A beautiful film with a fine cast, highly recommended.
