Cynthia grew up in Colorado, lived in Arizona, and was born somewhere east of there. Then she married a Montanan and that was the end of that. She earned a couple degrees and pursued a few careers, but found God’s best job for her when she became a wife and mom. Now her kids are grown-up enough to write their own stories, and so is she. She writes contemporary romance that is built on a foundation of faith. She says she isn't afraid to tackle messy stories, because after all, we're all a hot mess in need of perfect grace.

Christian romance

This is a Christian romance family story. There were a couple of preachers, a few missionaries, a Bible study student so there was a lot of religion going on. The story is of a couple having a wedding in a cabin on top of a mountain. It is very rustic, no electricity, no running water, no bathrooms, just the woods, the creek and the meadow. Everybody has a good time. It is mostly family from miles around and some of the wedding party from Texas.

The heroine is the daughter of missionaries, she is not the bride. She has her own story and then she meets the groom's best man. he is a cowboy from Texas, he was roommates at college with the groom and they are best friends. Lots of drama, spoiled females, sad childhoods and one part that I really had a problem with was the groom demanding to know the intentions of the best man regarding his cousin - a 27 year old female that has been living on her own since her teen years. That was a little hard to stomach and thank goodness she had the balls to call him on it.

It was an interesting story and I am sure if you are looking for a Christian backed story you will enjoy this one.

A Fun Story!

While listed as a novella, this story is 176 pages so it is not a story that will be over with before you start it. I did find it to be a quick and easy to read story, full of very interesting characters, in a wonderful setting.

The author did a great job of writing characters that I could quickly like (or dislike). I connected with Meg right from the beginning and felt for her and the situation she found herself in. I really liked Meg. She knows that she has talent as an artist, and has been successful at what she puts her mind to. However, she really struggles with not feeling completely loved by the family she has and also has a bit of a self image problem. Gage was also a character that I instantly liked, even with his “questionable” background that is hinted at. Perhaps that is why I liked him, along with the antics that he brought to the story.

The twists and turns that this story took kept me interested from start to finish and I look forward to reading more from this author. I definitely recommend this fun story.

Meg moves her little camper to her family’s property to stay for her cousin’s wedding. Things start to get hectic and confusing. Gabe, the best man she’s never met before, gets her attention, and he seems interested in her, but then his old girlfriend gets there late, and she’s the maid of honor. With problems on all fronts, what’s a girl to do?

The novel managed to pull me in. It had many strengths that made up for the few weaknesses. Although, it’s clean, the faith part was very shallow. We only get Meg’s point of view, and I think the story would have been stronger if it also had Gage’s point of view occasionally. It made no sense to me that, through the whole novel, everyone and Gage talks about him being a Texas cowboy, but we find out differently toward the end. The ending itself was very weak, almost like there would me more to follow. I didn’t like that. I gave the book 4.5 stars, which rounded up to a five.

Meg comes to her cousin's wedding looking to blend into the crowd when trouble strikes, the Maid of Honor is sick and Meg is asked to stand in. The best man, Gage, is her cousins best friend and he seems to have set his sites on Meg. Gage discovers that Meg has a secret, she is a children's author, and her family does not know it. Gage also has a secret which he is not open to sharing with Meg but when the maid of honor shows up in time for the wedding, Meg senses that his secret involves the beautiful maid of honor. This book will make you laugh and cry. After reading it you will believe that GOD does have a plan for each one of us.

a bit different kind of story

This guy who hurt girls in the past has left that life behind and has renewed his mind in the Lord. Great examples of godly people here. I'm not sure I can picture a modern wedding where all those people are willing to live with an outhouse and no electricity, though, So this nice renewed guy find a girl he likes and pursues her. They make a nice couple, except the situation was saddened by his old girlfriend there who seemed to still love him and her heart was breaking. Seems like he should have gotten together with her, in spite of their differences because God could have made it beautiful. Anyway, the descriptions were nice, watching the characters reason through there thoughts was nice, and the family love was really nice.

I enjoyed this book. All the characters were lovable and the story flowed.
Meg shows up for her cousins wedding only to find out the maid of honor isn't coming. Meg fills in on the weekend festivities and meets the best man, Gage. Gage finds out something that Meg has not even shared with her family, but as she tells them, some of them already knew - she was the Mouse the Moose author. The maid of honor gets there in time for the wedding, but has a history with Gage. Will Meg let her feelings get crushed by Gage? Or do Brie and Gage get back together?

I enjoyed this very, clean, well-written story.

I hadn’t realised from the blurb that the premise of this story was going to be so far-fetched. When the maid of honour becomes ill and isn’t able to get to the wedding, Meg, the groom’s cousin, volunteers to step into her shoes. Literally. Seriously? That whole scenario just seems so unlikely. Added to this was the fact that I found the description of the family and who was who, a bit confusing. I just didn’t think that it was worth persevering with the book.
