...I wholeheartedly agree. Great film. Nothing to add to the positive reviews that wouldn't give away more than has already been disclosed. So get comfy, turn up the volume so you can understand the dialogue in America (if you've never been to beautiful, magical Scotland and had to sort it out in real life), click on 'Watch Now', sit back,- and enjoy the ride.

Great Con Artist Movie Made for Card Magicians
Verified purchase
Really awesome -- a grifter movie worthy of a young Mamet, with the added coolness of being set in Glasgow. A great example of how much movie you can actually make on an indie budget if you've got a great script and a great cast. If you like con artist movies, you don't wanna miss this one -- it's pure red meat! Also, if you're an amateur magician like me, it's full of the kind of lingo and references to Erdnase that someone of R. Paul Wilson's accomplishment -- he's a great magician who also knows a thing or two about grifting -- can bring to the table.

Pay close attention.

Nicely played even though it takes a while to settle into the story. In the mean time it's hard to know who's conning who and how things will end (which, like The Sting, is unexpected and not really foreshadowed). The baritone electric guitar with the vibrato is a bit over-done and the Scotch dialogue is really interesting albeit, to my ears, foreign: I had to pay very close attention to get some of it. Good movie.

Remember, it's just a movie

I try to be sparing with the 4 stars and keep 5 stars few and far. But I'd say that this is more of a 4.5. There's a little Guy Richie in the movie, and a little David Mamet. In fact, think "House of Cards" as directed by Guy Richie, and and you're within a stones throw.

I'll leave it at that. Anything else would be spoilers.

The title of the movie, CON MEN just about says it all. It's a cool movie that will keep you guessing, although not with silly complicated twist and turns. It's just enough peek at some "supposed" cons to keep you trying to figure out what's going on. Saying more than, "You'll enjoy it" might give away the con. peace.

This is a fun movie which will entertain most adults

Solidly a 3.5 star movie. Entertaining movie that keeps you engaged all the way to the last frame. Well written. I say that because there is so much story, plots within plots, and interwoven themes delivered so effortlessly. This is a fun movie which will entertain most adults.

If you have seen a lot of con men movies ...

If you have seen a lot of con men movies, when all is said and done, you will say "of course." But the wrinkles getting there are very interesting and in the final scene, the movie shows some self-consciousness with one of the characters quoting a line from "The Sting." An unexpected little gem that moves fast.

Tight 90 minute grifting lesson: Get before you get got
Verified purchase
A relaxed movie about a group of cons who kinda talk about and show us their grifting methods. Some reviewers mentioned the subtitles being incomplete (the word "[mumble]" appears several times in the subtitles). The context can get you through the [mumbles] and the ear can adjust to the accent if you let it. This movie strikes me as a lazy Sunday afternoon cable- or broadcast-tv kind of movie that you might stumble across while channel surfing and decide to give it a go. It's not one you'd make a big bowl of homemade popcorn for on a Saturday night because you'd have more popcorn and night than movie as it runs a tight 93 minutes.
