About Michael Chang
I'm a physician (MD) Board-certified in Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and a certified functional medicine practitioner (CFMP). I have been in practice for over 30 years and I now have my own clinic called Healed and Whole located in Sunnyvale, CA (Silicon Valley). I can do telemedicine as well as on-site consultations at www.healedandwhole.com.
My first book "Mitochondrial Dysfunction: A Functional Medicine Approach to Diagnosis and Treatment" (Get rid of fat, fatigue, and brain fog) is based on actual experience treating patients with those symptoms. They often have their root cause in mitochondria that are not functioning optimally due to toxins, chemicals, medications, bad diet, and poor lifestyle habits. Without functioning mitochondria, there is inadequate energy in the form of ATP for the cells to function as they should. This is a rarely recognized problem even in the integrative medicine community but a common problem (about 50%) in my patients. Therefore, the purpose of my book is to educate the layman and practitioners to the diagnosis and treatment (including DIY plans) of this condition. If energy production is not recognized, it can undermine the effectiveness of their treatment protocol (like a car out of gas). I felt so committed to this premise that I was able to finish the book in a month!
The dysfunctional mitochondria are also responsible for the aging process and the development of all chronic degenerative diseases like cancer and Alzheimer's. It is natural for my practice to extend into the "anti-aging" field which I'm personally passionate about. By extending the health of our mitochondria, we naturally extend healthy lifespan. I firmly believe we can live to 120 as promised in the Bible if we start taking care of the mitochondria early enough.
My future books will be in the longevity and energy medicine fields. These are all areas at the cutting edge of science and medicine and it's very exciting to put them into action in my practice. So stay tuned for my upcoming books.
Besides my practice and writing books (I finally found my voice to the world), I enjoy taking good care of my body, mind, and spirit. I enjoy doing stretches for my back and legs (too much sitting!), bouncing on a mini-trampoline (be creative in moving your body), and working out in the gym (aerobic and strength). I enjoy reading on many subjects, mainly self-development, arts, and history. I love classical music, opera, and visiting museums (a must when I travel). We enjoy travel to Europe and Asia and the occasional cruise (hard to handle the food!).
I live with my wife Cynthia of 36 years in the San Francisco Bay Area where I grew up. We have a Shih-Tzu Meidi who is our baby.

GET RID OF FAT, FATIGUE, AND BRAIN FOG!
Are you sick and tired of being tired, overweight, brain fogged, and depressed? You've tried everything and nothing makes a difference. You've seen several doctors and holistic practitioners who prescribed pills and supplements but they have not addressed the root cause.
The answer may lie deep inside your cells called mitochondria, the energy factories that power the cell. By rebooting them in a proven treatment method, you can not only get rid of your symptoms but also prevent chronic degenerative diseases like cancer and Alzheimer's and even slow the aging process. Functional medicine can help you diagnose and treat mitochondrial dysfunction in a few short weeks.
In this book you will learn about:
Avoiding toxins that poison mitochondria.
Diet and nutrition that feed mitochondria.
Supplements that kickstart aging mitochondria.
Lifestyle and hormesis that stimulate mitochondria to divide.
