Midlife Zombie Hunter (The Forty Proof Series Book 5) Kindle Edition
Bree was hoping for a few days off from dealing with monsters, bad guys, or general weirdness that doesn’t fit into a human box of what is supposed to be real.
What she got was a stay in the hospital with an undead roommate and a whole new set of problems that keep rising from the grave.
But her love life is at least on track. Until it’s not. And when it goes sideways, it jumps straight into the drink and sinks to the bottom.
Now, Bree has to put her heart on the back burner as she is offered a major job hunting down the very person causing all the undead to rise. And she has two days to do it before the whole town turns into a scene from the Walking Dead.
Time to pull up your big girl panties and swig a little whiskey. Things are about to get interesting.

Let me just say that I rarely leave reviews unless I really love or hate the book. I do love THIS series and I love me some CRUSH! I cannot STAND (loathe, hate hate, double hate) how the author tells you that things are about to heat up. It totally takes you out of the story. Like, why the heck does it even matter? This is not a young adult so just . . . . ugh!
1. Ovarian cysts?! Seriously. That was just a bit ridiculous. Seemed like a dumb thing to stop them from going all the way. Just think of the most random thing to happen to stop the two.
2. I admit that I do not read much of Shannon Mayers books because she tends to drag crap out forever and her main characters take too many dang books to progress naturally. Her characters are always fantastic in personality and she is a great writer ....BUT..... just like her other series, she repeats the same pattern.
How many times has CUSH been a good guy and then a bad guy? This is the fifth book so that means his character has been this five times. I'm sure it will be the same in book six.
I gave up on her Riley series because of how she drags things on way too dang long and it just repeats the same scenario over and over. I think I gave up after book four. I guess this is about the time I get annoyed when nothing progresses within a story.
It's not so much the cliffhanger at the end, because I don't mind those, it's the never going anywhere progression. Some writers are VERY good at keeping the story going even after they resolved the heroine's love interest. (K. F. Breene is VERY GOOD at this.... I will read every single book she writes because she actually progresses the relationship and keeps the story going and doesn't just stall out).
Anyway, I do love Bree, Crush, Feish, Robert, and all the guys and she is perfect at creating character personalities that rock.
I will read the next book in the series so I guess that's all that really matters.
I love Feish, Susie, and Kinkly, I love the bond the 4 of them have formed and what they have gone through. Each book deepens the bond and this me was no different, a true sisterhood if I’ve ever read one.
Alan needs to get lost, he needs to be dealt such a hard blow he won’t risk opening his mouth ever again to attempt to put a woman down, any woman.
I do wish there were more repercussions to things that come up in the book, like a supernatural bite, but maybe there will be and we just don’t know it yet, otherwise it seems kind of a moot point to bring up.

Midlife Zombie Hunter (The Forty Proof Series, Book #5)
What a hot & sexy start to book #5 (which, as always with series, you are able to skip if you don't like steam)!🔥🔥 After excruciating pain Bree is rushed to hospital by her friends. It's there she comes across her first zombie, it's the first of many!😲 She meets a Dr with some very interesting powers during her stay!💀
She's hired by a surprising Skew to try & track down & stop those running the spell that's bringing the dead to life. She's shocked & hurt by something she discovers. Bree finally begins to unravel what she is magically.👍
This instalment is much more emotive than in previous books. Harm comes deep & personal.😢 I did miss the usual amount of laughs but they just wouldn't have fit with this storyline imo.😕 The writing is fantastic, as usual.🌟
