We are told God will punish the wicked; that sinful men will reap what they sow. We are told to scourge our souls with prayer and pain to become clean once again.
Well, here I am. Wicked and sinful. Desperate to become clean - even though it feels so good to be dirty.
But even I never expected what came next. Even I never expected my punishment to come so soon.
Midnight Mass is a novella and a sequel to Priest. It’s intended for mature audiences only.

Life is challenging, and through their challenges, they have each other.

Life is challenging, and through their challenges, they have each other.

Sierra Simone has an immeasurable gift whether she’s writing contemporary or historical, and her characters find their way into the deepest part of you. Your basest desires and thoughts can’t hide when a Simone book is in your hands because she brings every emotion to the forefront. It’s fitting she decided to write stories involving theology because reading her books is like a religious experience for me. I’d happily start a religion, or more likely a cult, to honor Ms. Simone.
Midnight Mass starts about three years after the ending of Priest. Tyler is pursuing his PhD in theological studies, and Poppy has been working towards building her dance studio and foundation. They are both exceptionally busy and the day-to-day reality of life has affected them the same way it affects all of us. There’s not enough time in the day to get their work done, let alone spend quality time together. But they are Father Bell and Poppy for pete’s sake! The hottest, s3xiest, most depraved couple I know. If these two can’t make it through these daily struggles then the rest of us are doomed. But like a good little lamb, I persevered and kept the faith that everything would work out. Along with their own struggles, there were outside forces and influences that kept me guessing at the path of the plot.
Tyler isn’t perfect. Shocking, I know! (Don’t worry, Tyler, you’re perfect to me.) He’s a fallible human being with the same jealousies and concerns that we all have. I love how he continually tries so hard to be a better man. And while Tyler struggles, Poppy may darn well be perfect. She’s a goddess and one of my favorite heroines of all time. Her candor and wit and compassion and general smoldering make her a bona fide leading lady.
Listen. Sometimes it’s easier to use intimacy to push our problems away instead of talking through them … and I’m not sorry about it, but what happens when they decide it’s time to hash it out and a few rough strokes and licks from the magnificent Tyler Bell aren’t going to be enough for them? A big theme in this installment is guilt and forgiveness. Can Tyler forgive himself and Poppy for his leaving the church? What happens when you believe your religious calling is the most significant part of your life and you feel lost without it even if you willingly gave it up to be with the woman you love? How does Poppy handle her own guilt in relation to that? Her husband gave up his clergy for her. That’s a big pill to swallow. I have so much love for these characters and their struggles.
Perhaps the thing I love most about Poppy and Tyler apart from all left-hand worthy s3x is their spiritual connection. When they got together in Priest it wasn’t just a physical attraction and their relationship is based on so much more than s3x. For me, the s3x is just this delicious bonus of I-can-never-get-enough-need-more-right-now perfect kind of kinky debasement that I love! I read a lot of erotica and it’s hard to pick just one favorite but let me tell you, Ms. Simone’s s3x scenes are the top of the line, hottest, dirtiest, filthy kind of s3x there is. You need these books in your life. Trust.
If you loved Priest, you will love Midnight Mass all the more. We get to grow with Tyler and Poppy. There are a few delicate topics in this book and Ms. Simone handles them with the utmost care. This series is definitely going on the all time favorites’ list. Go 1-click this deliciously erotic beautiful story of love, lust, redemption, trust, and faith.
P.S. I want to read Tyler’s dissertation. So Sierra, if you could please write that up in your free time and send it on over, that’d be greatly appreciated. For an erotica book to get me interested in theology? That’s other level writing right there, y’all.

Stand Alone? No. This is a continuation of Tyler and Poppy’s story from Priest.
This story… it hit me harder than the first honestly. And does it make me strange to be thankful for how it turned out? Does it make me weird to be blissed out that the author took a long veer away from the expected and instead brought to light an issue and feelings that so many women face and are not allowed proper time to process and feel in America? Also, the author’s note at the end just added the cherry to the top of the sundae that is this book. I loved the Priest but I am THANKFUL for Midnight Mass.
Happy Reading My Friends!

Midnight Mass picks up again a few years later with Tyler and Poppy. The pair are continuing to explore their lives and work in relation to their faith. Poppy is working hard on her dreams and it is having an impact on her and Tyler’s relationship but they work through the challenges and it’s great to see the true to life side of relationships being explored - it’s not always plain sailing.
There is no lack of steamy scenes within this little novella and if you enjoyed them in Priest, you’ll enjoy the continuation in Midnight Mass. Tyler is no longer Father Bell, however that taboo aspect of their sexy scenes still plays out between them.
This is a great ending to Tyler and Poppy’s story. The next in the series is Sinner and features Sean, Tyler’s brother. You don’t need to read these two first to enjoy Sinner but we would highly recommend it!

This is great, a real ‘slice of life’ for after the happy ever after of Tyler & Poppy. Really heartening to see them struggle with everyday life whilst dealing with their inner demons. The writing was really good, as ever. Again, I listened to the Audiobook and Jacob Morgan was stellar, both narrators were, but as it was mostly from Tyler’s POV, it was mainly him narrating which was gorgeous. His voice and easy style slips right under your skin and you’re right there with Tyler in the story. Great ending..it was realistic and I felt reassured by this as it made the story more human, more relatable. And you know that their love can handle anything that gets thrown their way. Beautiful. Big thank you to the Author for this little slice of life that in some parts, I could really relate to myself ❤️

The way the author explores the world of an ancient and often restrictive religion opened my mind in a way I never expected. The storyline totally pulled me along as Father Bell became just Tyler, with his struggle to come to terms with the emotion of both loving Poppy and even years later, his guilt at leaving his vocation.
As a story the author has provided more than just a love story, she imparts a deep understanding of the psyche of Tyler Bell.
I revise my original review from the first book, I will now continue to read Sean's story because the author certainly knows how to tell a tale.

When you are on the outside, looking in, you can see things clearer than those who are on the inside. It's not until you take a step back from a situation, that you ultimately see the danger signs. This is also true for Tyler and Poppy. Guilt has warped their perception. Whilst there is no doubt they love each other, is it strong enough?
Their relationship is put to the test and I thoroughly enjoyed reading how Tyler grew from that. I also enjoyed seeing Poppy regain some of her fire.
I loved how Sierra Simone dealt with the issues. They were written with so much compassion and understanding. It brought back so m any of my own memories.
This is a fantastic follow up for this steaming hot couple.
