Great Series

Being a "binge" watcher" of the Midsomer Murders (all series on Netflix), I enjoy most of the episodes; however, there are a few I don't watch more than once.
My favorite episode is the first episode on Series 11. The wives of the 2 feuding families on this episide are very entertaining, especially Mrs. Hicks. How they perfected her role for this is great. She plays the part to perfection, although all the actors do a great job. She has to be my favorite character in the entire series. Anytime I am in need of a bit of humor to lighten the day I watch it again. All the characters in this one are perfect for their roles as well as their differences. I could do without the nude scenes though, and the sex stuff. I just fast forward through them with the remote anyway. Not needed.
I enjoyed the John Nettles series the most, but the newer ones are good. Just not "as good". I don't like all the "political correctness" in the newer series. It is just disgusting that they would ruin a really excellent mystery series with such nonsence! I do miss the man who was the original Pathologist. He was great for the part. I liked his understated humor. Haven't liked any of the newer ones. Waste of time.

“Oh all right. It’s the howl of a werewolf ravening for blood.”

Seven more mysteries featuring affable detective DCI Barnaby (John Nettles). In these offerings Cully Barnaby gets married while more murderers rampage through the countryside killing people left and right in a host of ways: arrows, a hatpin, bullets, a clothes dryer, poison frogs, and an iron maiden. Spikes anyone!
Naturally, Tom Barnaby solves them all with his usual aplomb.....with an assist of sorts by Detective Sergeant Ben Jones (Jason Hughes). Even Gavin Troy (Daniel Casey) stops by, proving he still can’t drive. Otherwise, it’s business as usual: feuds, family secrets, grudges aplenty, jealousy, and retribution. What fun!

GREAT

Yes, murder is alarming for such a bucolic setting. The detective(s) are great. I love the acting, plots, and the lovely settings. The buildings are wonderful. I feel as though I'm getting to see the best of historical buildings. Love the variety of door shapes and lovely flowering gardens leaving me green with envy. I'll never achieve that! But the end of the series leaves me a little sad.
The plots are excellent, as is the acting. People who have real relationships! I have yet to see less than a great episode. Can't say enough good about this series.

We now own 13 DVDs of Midsomer Murders...love the scenery and the low key approach to the series. Each dvd has a background talking about the actors and the characters they play and where the scenes are shot. John Nettles is excellent in how he solves the problems with his problem solving. Just sorry to see he is leaving the series and someone else will be taking over.

Very good video quality. Just wish these episodes had commentaries on them for the high price we are paying. At least it's in DVD formant though.

Midsomer Murders Is My Favorite Mystery Show

PBS carried the first eight seasons of Midsomer Murders on American television. Unfortunately, when they dropped showing the series, I missed seeing what happened in Midsomer.Amazon premium was suggested to me by my niece, so I signed up for the subscription where I discovered more seasons. I purchased season 11 and was pleased. It brought me up to date on the settings, characters and of course Tom and Joyce Barnaby, as well as Cully and Ben Jones. I am very pleased with the purchase and would highly suggest buying and watching season 11.
