This is a feel good movie. To see what us military families have to live with each and every day.

When we stick together and encourage each other we can achieve great things.

Although there are some funny parts, it is a reality check of when our men and women go to war. Those left behind have to cope, the best way possible. There is drama and bickering resolved at the end with the heartwarming song written by one of the wives that brings the audience to a standing ovation.

For all of the nay sayers....I strongly disagree

I loved this movie. Wanted to give it 4 1/2 stars. The fact that it is based on true story moves me more. The fact this choir inspired more choirs at bases all over England inspires me yet again. I am not from a military family and it gave me insight to what military families go through. As an American, I see that England has Remembrance Day and they all wear poppies...and they all remember the lost soldiers and families. Here we have Memorial Day. And for most Americans (if not in a military family) it is the start of summer and a BBQ/cook-out/long weekend. Makes me sad to be an American.

Excellent movie

This movie addresses the emotions of war, death, anger, fear, and more. It’s a true story. Emotional and uplifting! Just the kind of movie needed for our times. I wish there were more movies like this and less violent, evil movies that leave you feeling depressed and angry. I would definitely recommend.

Some good, some not

It was interesting to see the differences in military/family life in the British vs. American systems. The character development and conflicts between characters was well done. On the other hand, I felt as though the preview "bated me" to rent this movie. There is one character who, in the preview, sings extraordinarily well and I rented the movie because I wanted to hear her sing more. In the actual movie though, she sings that one, tiny segment of one song well, yet in the rest of the movie her voice was not remarkable in any way. I felt very disappointed that I waited through an entire movie for a great voice, only to find that there was none.

A great rainy day film

Really 3.75. I had low expectations given one friend's overblown love of this film--figured it couldn't be THAT good. It is-ish. Kristin Scott Thomas is a marvel and I would watch her putting books away on a shelf. Her expressive face and poise add drama to the most bland scene. I watched it as I ironed linens in the early days of the pandemic- this was just perfect. this doesn't sound like high praise but people who are looking for a distraction while they handle chores will find this one satisfying. It's an afternoon cuppa tea with a good friend kind of film. Cozy, little real tension. good good.

i enjoy Kristin Scott Thomas' acting abilities ... so many great rolls. i see the "Darkest Hours" on Amazon ... wonder why other famous rolls are not there? she was in "The English Patient", "Four Weddings and a Funeral", "Mission Impossible" (1996), "The Golden Compass" (her voice, 2007), i appreciate the sentimental behind this movie, why it was made etc. but it was a bit "cheesy" but moments will make you tear up or cry? i can imagine it could be a very lonely time. i wish women no matter military wives or not ... i wish that women could support one another always. no matter their walk in life ... what they were as a profession or not?? support. don't judge.
