Mimics & Mayhem: A Stallion Ridge Novella Kindle Edition
While I can shape shift into whatever man you want, that's not what makes me unique.
My mismatched eyes, beautiful red hair, love for women's fashion and my big endowment are simply some of my shining qualities.
I'm also fabulous, love sex, and I look fantastic in a corset.
Did I get your attention? Good.
Then let me tell you my story.

He’s not quite sure how to go about being a star but doesn’t doubt that he will be. The big city is not nice to him. The really only good thing that happens is meeting Danny the satyr. Scarlet manages to get himself in trouble and decides maybe Stallion Ridge wasn’t so bad after all.
While all of the Stallion Ridge characters are interesting, Scarlet has always been one of the most mysterious. This was a short book but it gave me everything I needed to know about Scarlet. While it was a complete story, I do think all the books should be read in order. This is such an unusual world full of interesting and likable characters that it’s easy to get lost in the book.
Managing to get into lots of mischief whilst he was there. Not finding the place or dream he thought he would. The other Mimics were cruel and glad they got a taste of Scarlet.
I loved Danny, a satyr, and their chemistry.
Scarlet has been my favorite side character throughout this series so I was very excited to have a whole book just of him. This book starts with Scarlet leaving Stallion Ridge to head to the big city to act. But he quickly realizes that the city isn’t as welcoming as he expected. But he does find love.
“Life is a cruel bitch sometimes, but it can also be beautiful. Focus on the pretty parts.”
It was wonderful seeing Scarlet finally fall for someone. Danny was a great character. He was caring, sweet, and just as passionate as Scarlet is. Their personalities really worked perfectly together and they made a great team on stage. I loved how he went out of his way to take care and protect Scarlet. These two were just an adorable couple and I really can’t wait to see their growth in future books.
The other main focus of this book is Scarlet struggles in the city. He quickly loses his fun and flirty attitude to the pressure of big city rules. It was really sad to see how much he struggled to adapt to the city and the reaction of other mimics. I just wanted to hug Scarlet multiple times in this book because he really needed a friend. Also, it was heartbreaking seeing him at the end of his rope and just wanting to go home, but the experience did leave him stronger.
This novella was different from the others because it's not in Stallion Ridge with the guys, but it was a very interesting and enjoyable love story. Like I said, Scarlet is my favorite character and I love that he finally found love.
Trigger Warning: Attempted rape. Frequent use of the word cripple.
Scarlet has always been sassy and flirty with a mix of masculine and feminine attributes and a love for sex, women's fashion, and theatre. And Danny was the perfect love interest for him, being just as interesting himself. A singing, piano-playing satyr who wore his satyr form unashamedly and didn't seem bothered by anything.
Like the other books, these two fell in love within a week, but it felt right. These two just fit together, and that was clear from the start. Not only could Danny handle Scarlet's big, bold personality, he appreciated it and matched it in his own ways, and I could feel the chemistry between them.
I would've liked the book to be a bit longer though, to spend more time with these characters and to see more of the time Scarlet and Danny spent together, which is both a complaint and a compliment because I really did think they interesting and just wanted more of them.
The story had its ups and downs. It made me smile at times, and it made me feel terrible for Scarlet at other times.
This book was a divergence from the main series, an extra book, so it differed in some ways. It didn't take place in Stallion Ridge, so it didn't have all the other characters. It also was single POV in first person with a casual, sassy, breaking-the-fourth-wall kinda style.
A couple kinda trigger/content warnings: The word "cripple" was used a lot. There were many instances of characters saying or thinking what essentially boiled down to "men have [a certain body part] and women don't." There was attempted (but failed) sexual assault.
This was different from the other books in some ways but was overall another sweet, fun story of love in the supernatural-filled Old West.
*Even though each book in this series focuses on different characters, I recommend reading them in order, or you might be lost in regards to some plot/world elements and character/relationship backgrounds.*
*Rating: 3.5 Stars // Read Date: 2021 // Format: eBook*

Add in an overweight self important bully who's determined to have Scarlett and there's more than enough action to satisfy Scarlett.
