Do you:
• Have trouble paying attention and staying on task?
• Suffer from disorganization, procrastination, or forgetfulness?
• Have difficulty with restlessness or trouble managing strong feelings such as anger and frustration?
• Struggle with self-doubt and difficulty following through?
• In a way that causes problems in your relationships or your work?
If so, you may have Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)—like an estimated 8 million adults in this country. Physician-researcher Dr. Lidia Zylowska has created an 8-step program for using mindfulness practice (attention and awareness training) to overcome the symptoms of ADHD. The program includes practices such as sitting meditation, body awareness, thoughtful speaking and listening, development of self-acceptance, mindful self-coaching, cultivation of a balanced view of thoughts and emotions, and more. Dr. Zylowska educates readers about ADHD, helping them to understand how their ADHD brain works and how they can use mindful awareness to work with their challenges. She also explains how the mindful approach can be combined with other treatments, including medications, to boost self-improvement.
This book is accompanied by an audio program of guided mindfulness exercises for successfully managing ADHD. The introduction to the book, titled “Dear Reader,” includes a link to the free downloadable audio files.

Review
—Edward Hallowell, MD, author of Driven to Distraction
“A great many people stand to benefit from Zylowska's eight-step program. Structured to be accessible for its target audience, this supportive guide to managing ADHD through mindfulness offers a clear and detailed program for putting an effective treatment in the hands of consumers and is a great contrast to the many didactic, jargon-laden self-help books available.”

I highly recommend this book. It goes way beyond superficial advice for people with ADHD (like “use a planner” or “set alarms”) and instead focuses on mental practices that (if done consistently over time) can help you to recognize mind-wandering and inattention happening so that you can shift your attention back where you WANT it to be.
But for someone who already brings mindfulness into areas where I am challenged, I found this book long on theory and short on practical tips. For me, it didn't offer much that was very helpful. Mostly it just reminded me to focus on encoding things into my memory by being mindful when I put things down or when I need to concentrate on something.
I have been doing the sound, breath, body meditation for awhile now and what an absolute difference it makes. I return to this book over and over when I experience something I know is ADHD related, work the steps she offers, and am able to find peace and acceptance.
Amazing and I look forward to more from this author.
Or advice in it. It’s purley because it comes with a CD and no option for an MP3 for the meditations provided except for puchasing online.
I don’t know about you, I haven’t seen a CD player in awhile. My laptop dosent even have a disc drive.
I am a big headspace user already and that’s what lead me to this, I haven’t read any books on the subject but I figured one directed at Adhd would be a good place to start. I will note I haven’t read much more than a few pages at this point. I just was miffed by the cd.
Amazon kindle helped me gain timely access to the book, let alone helping me find it in their suggested reading list. Thanks to Amazon as well.
