Amber’s (Tia Mowry-Hardrict) Auntie can’t organize the annual Christmas Pageant for Mt. Joy Church in Detroit, so she offers to take on the task. When her ex-boyfriend, Eddie (Mark Taylor) comes back to town after three years, they work together trying to track down Motown Legend Smokey Robinson in hopes of convincing him to perform.
Listening to Smokey Robinson singing “Jingle Bells” during the opening credits gave me a good feeling and made me more eager to watch this Christmas movie. I knew I’d have my eye on Mark Taylor’s character more than any other, but the entire cast gave good performances and I must say, “Kudos to young actress Markeda McKay!”
This film has fun moments, touching moments and, unlike some television holiday movies, the storyline wasn’t totally predictable. Miracle in Motor City has been added to my list of favorite Christmas movies. Favorite Line: What will you give this Christmas?
