When A Tragedy Brings Everybody Closer Together

The Miracle Season is a GREAT movie! I love when I find a hidden gem upon all the movies I buy. I had to give this movie 5 stars because it was such a well made movie based on a true story. This movie will definitely pull on your heartstrings, but sometimes you need to see these types of movies to remind yourself about the importance of life and how to cope with others that you are close to and how to deal with the loss of a loved one together. I"m definitely not going to say much more because I hate spoiling movies, but I think this is one of my new favorite Sport Drama's based on a true story and it will definitely be one to keep with the rest of my collection of movies. The acting by everybody in this movie is great also and will make your emotions run high. Rent or buy, I promise you won't be disappointed.

Though ultimately upbeat, THE MIRACLE SEASON lacks the acting potency of SOUL SURFER
Verified purchase
THE MIRACLE SEASON suffers from comparison to its director's previous film, SOUL SURFER. Its prime virtues are volleyball action sequences expertly edited and a moving performance from the lead actress. However, these are diluted by an indifferent music score and the obnoxious personality of its secondary actress, who fortunately is pushed into the background in the movie's second half. There's also an unfortunate overemphasis in the first half on winning for its own sake. Apparently somebody detected that misplaced promotion and replaced it with "have fun and just do your best" later on in the drama. So THE MIRACLE SEASON is a mixed bag with contradictory messages. Parents of teens need to be aware of that.

Great story; well written; will pull at your heart strings; and the sports action is great!

Whether you purchase the book or the DVD of this story, you will love it. We need more positive stories like this with amazing role models like Caroline Found and Kathy Bresnahan. This is a real-life story that tells us you can get through anything if you put your heart and mind to it, and even a great loss can be a great source of strength. It all depends on how you look at it. If you didn't get to the theater for the movie, definitely buy the DVD and watch it with your friends and family. This is a great movie for all ages and no one will walk away from it without being positively affected. And for all you sports fans, the sports are very realistic, exciting to watch, and how very cool we get to see young high school women's awesome sports for once. Yay! #LiveLikeLine

Tearjerker chick movie
Verified purchase
Very depressing movie that progresses slowly. A 17 year old girl who was the captain of a volleyball team dies on an accident, while her mother is dying of cancer. There is a lot of crying and pain in this movie. The editing was awful since some scenes would go on and on, like in the case of the mass for the dead girl. Helen Hunt, who I used to like before this movie, looked like Martina Navratilova and her role was that of a strict unpleasant coach. In regards to William Hurt, I guess that his career has gone to hell so he took up this lousy movie.

Great movie. I also enjoyed the fact that it is a true story. You don't have to love sports to enjoy this movie.

The acting can be a little "After school special" but man did this movie make me cry - like several times!

And I met the author of the book who is portrayed by Helen Hunt (the head coach in the movie.) And the author is a really amazing human.

Rent this movie and you won't be disappointed.

My daughter plays volleyball, so I got this movie for her, having no clue what it was about. We watched it together, and loved it. Be prepared: it’s a tear jerker! I didn’t realize it’s be so emotional. But it was very well done, and the “real life videos” at the end were so sweet to watch!
