About the Author

Eliza Wheeler (www.wheelerstudio.com) grew up in northern Wisconsin in a family of teachers, musicians, and artists. Some of the strongest influences on her creativity have been the wild Wisconsin seasons, canoeing the Brule River, picking blueberries with her grandmother, and digging through the snow with her brothers. She received the SCBWI Los Angeles International Conference Portfolio Grand Prize for her artwork, and Miss Maple’s Seeds is her first picture book. She lives in Los Angeles, California.

Eliza Wheeler is the illustrator-author of Home in the Woods and the NYT bestselling picture book Miss Maple’s Seeds. She was a recipient of the Sendak Fellowship Award, and has illustrated numerous books for children, including Newbery Honor book Doll Bones (Holly Black), When I'm With You and Wherever You Go (Pat Zietlow Miller), and John Ronald’s Dragons: Story of J.R.R. Tolkien (Caroline McAlister). She grew up in the northwoods of Wisconsin, and now lives with her husband in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

I love this book! It is so beautiful and such a touching message. I include it every year in my kids year end / teacher appreciation gifts because to me it perfectly captures the essence and love teachers put into their work and in giving it to each of our teachers I hope it communicates to them how much we value them and the important work they do!
