Blog postI’m diligently working on The Mother Element (formerly Maid of Iron), the sequel to Girl Under Glass. These are post-developmental edit notes and there’s a lot of work to do, but the story is coming together nicely, I think. (I hope!) So many readers have waited soooo long for this book that I feel a lot of pressure to produce a book that outperforms expectations.
Anyhoo, I thought some people might enjoy a little preview of the work. Unlike GUG, this book presents both Rachel’s and E4 years ago Read more -

When a world’s fate rests on her sword, will a loyal soldier obey her king or follow her heart?
Militess Halina is an accomplished leader, a fearsome soldier, and the unapologetically tough bastard daughter of Ursinum’s king. When she’s ordered to gain the allegiance of Shadow Mage Gethen — a notoriously dangerous necromancer whose brother is an enemy king — she assumes the negotiations will be simple: Either he’ll pledge his loyalty or she’ll remove his head.
But the Shadow Mage isn’t what she expected, nor is his situation. Intriguing and powerful, Gethen’s the only man preventing the return of an ancient menace that threatens their world. And though he hates to admit it, his sorcery is failing and he needs her help.
Suddenly Ursinum’s dispute with Gethen’s brother seems petty, and Halina must decide who’s best served by her sword: her king or every man, woman, and child in the four kingdoms and beyond.
Magic, adventure, love, and suspense abound in the first novel of Monica Enderle Pierce’s Militess & Mage series. Epic fantasy that’s perfect for fans of sword and sorcery fiction with a touch of enemies-to-lovers romance.
What begins with a seemingly innocuous traffic accident soon spirals into a global pandemic. The release of Airborne Viral Hemorrhagic Fever upon New York City’s unsuspecting populace brings bloody suffering within hours, death within a day, and spreads worldwide within a month.
An online community called Prep For Doom has risen to the top of a recent doomsday preparation movement. Some have written them off as crazy while others couldn’t be more serious about the safety the preppers could provide in a global disaster. But when AVHF strikes, their preparation may not be enough to save them.

Once they were royalty, now they’re renegades.
Halina and Gethen are the last fighters standing against the evil engulfing Quoregna. Newly allied Nalvika and Ursinum march against their eastern neighbors in overwhelming numbers. Citizens are conscripted or killed, their possessions seized. Shrikers roam the lands, stealing children’s souls to empower King Waldram’s necromancy, while mages and hedge witches are seduced by the dark magic feeding his madness. Besera teeters on the brink of collapse and Or-Halee is under siege. Only distant Teleyansk remains free from war’s chaos.
Relentlessly hunted by their enemies, Gethen and Halina must journey to Quoregna’s farthest reaches in search of allies. Can they muster aid from strangers, or will fear of Waldram’s combined armies force the militess and the mage to travel a deadlier road to raise a force against his tyranny?
Magic, adventure, love, and suspense return in the concluding novel of the Militess and Mage series. Epic fantasy that’s perfect for fans of sword and sorcery with a strong heroine, a beta hero, and an established romantic partnership.
He’s a pauper, a protector, a whoreson.
She’s a princess, a rebel, a witch.
Can their young love overcome the ugly truth that threatens to separate them forever?
Traumatized by the brutal murder of her beloved father King Vernard, sixteen-year-old Princess Arevik has shut out everyone as she mourns. Her only source of comfort and strength is the servant who stepped between her and the murderers and fought to keep her safe.
Twenty-two-year-old Magod has suffered a recent loss too. His mother was killed by a vengeful witch, leaving him with no one but the necromancer he serves. Not a man to stand idle as others suffer, Magod protected Arevik during the attack that killed her father. And he continues to be her Voice in Mourning at Tatlis Castle as she silently grieves.
Friendship turns to affection, but it’s an impossible love for a princess and a pauper. Especially when Arevik’s brother Ilker, the new king, insists that she choose between two influential suitors and tasks Magod with encouraging her to fulfill her royal duties.
Arevik must decide if she will discharge her obligations or abandon responsibility for the man she desires. And Magod must carry out a command that will leave him lonely and heartbroken or defy the king and risk his life for an unattainable love.
Magic, adventure, suspense, and love abound in this short story, a companion to Monica Enderle Pierce’s A Castle to Keep. Epic fantasy that’s perfect for fans of swords, sorcery, and a touch of sweet romance.

To protect her young daughter from a madman and a tyrant, Rachel Pryne must trust an enemy, one of the alien warriors who conquered Earth.
It’s 2032, the Ohnenrai orbit the planet and human reproduction is failing. A trained medic, Rachel struggles to protect her seven-year-old daughter, Pearl, from the predation of their penal colony's leader. Having fathered the girl by force, Cyrus intends to remove her from her home on her eighth birthday, only six weeks away.
When an injured Ohnenrai soldier appears in her yard one stormy evening, Rachel doesn’t realize she’s found an unlikely champion. But Ehtishem Mahle’s dislike of Cyrus is immediately evident, and desperate to keep Pearl safe Rachel decides the devil she doesn’t know is better than the one she does.
But the Ohnenrai face their own impending doom at the hands of a greater enemy. Rachel’s decision to trust Ehtishem places her and Pearl on an unlikely path to the stars and makes Rachel one of the most important and endangered people to ever set foot aboard an Ohnenrai starship.
The only possible solution to the Ohnenrai's extinction lies within Rachel, but all she wants to do is protect her daughter and see Earth's alien conquerors go straight to hell.
He would destroy the universe to keep her safe. She would become death to protect him.
Terran medic Rachel Pryne was designed by the Ohnenrai to destroy their pursuing foe before all life in the known galaxy and beyond falls prey to its aggression.
Ohnenrai leader Ehtishem Mahle was tasked with deploying Rachel into their deadly enemy’s path. Falling in love with her wasn’t part of the plan, but now he desperately needs a way to wield this weapon without ending her life.
The only possible solution to galactic extinction lies with Rachel and Ehtishem, but all they want is to survive and be together. Everyone else can go straight to hell.
