Monroe Doctrine : Volume V Kindle Edition
…and it said, “I am the future.”
Had the Chinese government gone too far?
Deep in an underground production facility, far away from prying eyes, President Yao Jintao stood and watched—row after row of machines busily working to build other machines that would fight and destroy their enemies. Killers were creating killers for as far as he could see.
The terror was immediate.
President Yao sensed they’d crossed a line.
Was it too late to turn back?
South Korean and American soldiers stared down their Chinese counterparts along the Yalu River, just like they had 75 years before. With winter on the way and both armies dug in, who might make the first move?
Nobody was prepared for what came next.
Out of the swirling snow and ice, there was movement. Someone was out there, or worse, some thing. Jade Dragon has just launched Project Terracotta, and the world would never be the same.
Would humanity be able to stop the evolution of the machines?
You’ll love this tense fifth book in the series because this one strikes close to home, and we must all be prepared for when science-fiction becomes our reality.
Get it now.
From the Publisher
"In 2024, all strategically deployed pieces are in place and Project Ten is a go. China is ready to take over the world after years of slowly designing and unleashing technological advances, such as deepfakes and ultrafast and free Wi-Fi, as well as maneuvering its Communist-friendly Latin American political allies, like Cuba and Venezuela. By the time America realizes what is happening under its own nose and invokes the Monroe Doctrine, it is too late.... There's a lot to commend in Rosone and Watson's plot-driven series opener that delivers plenty of action. The story's use of technology—from the sinister AI to the problematic, very contemporary deepfakes, fake news, and data farming—is highly effective." -Kirkus Reviews, March 17th, 2021
As AI continues to improve and deepfakes become routine...
...it's harder and harder to distinguish truth from fiction.
Scheming world leaders develop unexpected alliances.
Conflict is at America's doorstep.
The Monroe Doctrine calls on the US to respond...what could possibly go wrong?

Alex Aaronson, co-author of Volume IV with James Rosone
Alex Aaronson started telling Sea Stories around February 1992, when he reported to Recruit Training Center, Great Lakes Illinois. Since then he’s been entertaining anyone who would listen with his hyperbolic storytelling, a loose relationship with the facts, and a total disregard for modesty. Unfortunately, given that his naval service as a Cryptologic Technician, Interpretive was spent dealing with classified materials and situations you don’t get to hear any of that! Instead, Alex leans on the bits and pieces he picked up getting his undergraduate degree in International Relations from the University of California, and his Law Degree from Southern Methodist University. After having blown a major wad of cash on that fancy degree, he now spends his time making stuff up and hoping that you’ll read it.

Volume V picks up fast and dirty with epic underwater battles as the Chinese and American submarines look to finish each other off. There are scenes ranging from dueling submarines to covert insertions of Special Forces off Taiwan. The way this author crafts these scenes from their buildup to the tension of what may come next to the delivery of mind-blowing action sequences that place you right there in the scene is storytelling at its finest.
With the battles in the Caribbean and Venezuela ending, we see the story of this war transition to Asia, and the battles awaiting them there.
One of my favorite NEW aspects to this global war and this series was the introduction of real, honest to goodness Russian units and characters. In books four and five, James introduces us to Alex Aaronson from his mentorship program for military-veteran aspiring to become authors.
James spoke of Alex crafting the portions of books four and five that covered the Chinese invasion of the Russian Far East. While American & NATO Forces had battled it out in the Caribbean, the Chinese super-AI Jade Dragon invaded the Russian Far East. If the Far East fell to China, then Jade Dragon would have the resources to secure China’s current and future energy needs, agriculture to feed their people, and direct access to the Artic and its untapped resources.
Given world events, ongoing Russian-Ukrainian War and the fact that this series started little more than a year ago. I wasn’t sure if Rosone & Watson would or even could address this issue. Then again, this is Rosone & Watson I’m talking about. The masters of predicting global conflicts e.g. Battlefield Ukraine they wrote five years ago.
As I made my way through this epic thriller, not only had they acknowledged the Russian invasion. They had managed to make it appear as if it had somehow already been part of the series from the very beginning!!!!
Foreshadow this invasion, we soon discover the fingerprints of Jade Dragon—that devious dirty super-AI had somehow planned for it to happen. In the story, as in real-life, large quantities of high-tech weaponry between America, NATO partners, and Russia are rapidly depleted, and their forces weakened several years in advance of Chinese unleashing their super-AI on the world.
Wow is all I can say.
I’ve never come across a series or author that can craft this many intricate layers, plots, and twists that keep you turning the pages till 3am in the morning and then screaming when you reach the end, knowing you’ll have to wait for the next release to see what happens next.
BUY THIS SERIES. Rosone & Watson are the masters of this genre.
Shoutout to Alex Aaronson. Bravo on your contribution to this series and giving us some incredible characters and chapters from the Russian-NATO perspective.
If this is a sign of things to come then you’ve got a new fan and reader.
Monroe Doctorine does not disappoint, James Rosone and Alex Aaronson keep finding a way to turn it up a notch. The Chapter in the Monroe Doctorine has probably the best battle scenes in the whole series. It makes you feel like you are right there on the deck of the Texas, to the front lines of Korea, to the seige of Vladivostok. I have grown to feel for the characters, connecting with them like I haven't done since Jack Ryan Domingo Chavez, and John Clark. The naval battle scenes rival that of Keith Douglas and his Carrier and Seal Team series or Peter Albano and the 7th Carrier series. I do not want to give to much away but the twists and turns that Monroe Doctorine 5 takes will definitely leave you wondering where are they going with book 6 and 7. I love how today's current events were also woven into the story. James and Alex have totally taken the Military Technical Thriller to new heights with Monroe Doctorine 5.

Attention to detail and a fast moving storyline keeps the reader hooked.
As usual I almost threw my Samsung tablet at wall when book finished.
Great story, great delivery, the undersea battles with the Submarines was my favourite part.
Brilliant, loved it.
I can’t recommend this book highly enough.
For a start, the battles are still epic as ever, with a theme of once-future weapons joining the fray. The tech-savvyness of this series is perhaps one of its greatest strengths. Truly a 2020s war, with all the tech trends, scenarios and even figures (Elon Musk himself is here. How cool!)
As this series continued to evolve, it has entered another phase. Almost like another trilogy in its own right. It was indeed James' early vision to have a Venezuela and a Korean trilogy, and it's now taken form within the same mythos!
It's also worth noting that the current Ukraine crisis has not jarred the series at all. In fact, it actually adds to it as a backstory and making it interesting (Still fiction, though). Well done on adapting! The Russian soldiers in the book are still heroes defending their homeland, and the Kremlin are the dodgy mutual enemy as usual. Although, I myself am not much of a Bitcoin person, I'm sure many others find that part intriguing.
All in all, this is a great leap forward for not only the series, but the genre itself. The New 20s now have their place in the world of war thrillers. Here's to new, more advanced chapters ahead!
