Great nonfiction for young readers!
"Gail Gibbons has taught more preschoolers and early readers about the world than any other children’s writer-illustrator."
—The Washington Post
With books about the solar system, holidays, animals, plants, and much, much more, Gail Gibbons' wide range of nonfiction picture books are perfect for young readers starting to explore the world around them.
Featuring clear, bright, well-labeled diagrams, illustrations, and infographics, these accessible nonfiction titles are perennial favorites for classrooms, libraries, and home bookshelves.
Look for new and updated editions of favorite titles, which incorporate the latest scientific discoveries, and are vetted by experts in the field!
Gail Gibbons’s books are particularly accurate because she goes right to the source when researching a topic. She has been on the seventeenth floor of a skyscraper in progress, has spoken with truck drivers about the workings of their rigs, has dismantled every clock in her home, and would have donned scuba diving gear to research a sunken ship had the sea waters not been too turbulent. Gail says "I had a lot of ‘whys’ when I was a child. I guess I still do."
Board Book Nonfiction
For the youngest readers, new board book editions of favorite titles introduce intriguing nonfiction topics in an especially kid-friendly way.

The illustrations are clear and vivid, and they held my babies (and my) attention from first to last page. The wording flows easily and isn't overwhelming or extra lengthy...so although my girls didn't understand everything I read, they understood much of it. The book is well made and large, making it easy for smaller hands to hold for interactive reading. I recommend this book for every young astronomer in the making, even younger ones, who will eventually grow to grasp the concepts in the book!
