Now I am waiting for Croy’s story from Torus Intercession series. I have not forgotten that was next.
The dialogue is just right. It flows naturally. It's sharp and sarcastic and dry and absolutely right.
The characters. Again, as always, they are very real. Good sides, bad sides, hopes and fears. Love. Heat. Then you have the secondary characters. Again, just right.
This just rolled along. No slow-downs, no snags.
Really, this was a great story.
I really liked this story. Many parts reminded me strongly of the Timing series which not a bad thing as I loved that series. I am usually not a big fan of friends to lovers stories, but I really enjoyed this one. It was good to read about a romance between two people who have known each other for years and just didn’t fall into bed together within minutes of meeting. Also, there wasn’t a lot of the angsty back and forth, “I love him but if I tell him, I’ll lose him” bs that you get in a lot of these types of stories. So although this story was pretty predictable, it was an entertaining read and I really enjoyed it.
this is another winner for mary calmes.it has all the elements that makes her books exceptional.plus i'm partial to cowboys.
Every author, whatever genre, has a style. It either resonates with the reader or doesn't. Mary's style, her characterization, her plot line, and especially her Jory/Miro/Hart characters are my kryptonite. Smart, talented, quirky, lovable and positively the heart of the story.
A Matter of Time series and the Marshals series are my all time favorites. And I cannot forget to add Frog, and....you get the picture. I've read them numerous times and will do so again.
This gem, More Than Life, will join that list.
I recommend this book and, you guessed it, all of the Mary Calmes books!

Then Morgan, I just couldn't get my head around how his back story was handled and what Mary thought would be a 'healing act' - having sex with the man he loves. It was very simplistic.
Finally, the whole denouement was anti-climactic and could have been shared when Lee first turned up and that would have been the end of that.
I don't think I'd read another of her books, which is a shame, but this just didn't get it right for me. Ymmv.
I loved this book, loved Hart and Morgan.
