4.0 out of 5 starsNice Fit and Finish - A little small and mic works just ok - dumb marketing tactics

I received this headset yesterday and have used it for about half a dozen calls since then. Here is my experience with this product. It may be worth mentioning that I am a product designer and have experience designing products for retail sale.
Pros:
Really nice clean appearance. Notables are the stitching in the head band, the soft touch cord, the black and gold color scheme ( if you select that colorway) I particularly like the gold accent on the mic. It's a simple detail but is really effective in boosting the overall appeal of the headset. The packaging was really nice and clean as well. It looks well worth the $35+ price point.
The in-line remote works well. It's a little chunky, but looks ok and functions as expected. The mute button will fade out whatever you are listening to which I haven't decided if I like or dislike. Initially I thought it was a nice touch, but I could see it getting annoying. The mute button is back-lit blue which is also a good feature, turning red when it's muted as a nice visual indicator. I also like that it connects via 3.5mm jack which makes it very easy to switch between using it on my PC and using the headset on my phone if someone calls.
The headset mic has a really satisfying click/stick point that soft locks it into an upright position. Very welcome feature when storing or maneuvering the mic when not in use. Shows a nice attention to detail.
The ear pieces have a subtle ( and beautiful ) red accent under the perforations that looks really nice. They are also extremely comfortable and soft. I could wear them all day and be totally fine. As the video shows, the ears also turn 90 degrees for storage which another really thoughtful feature.
Cons:
The entire headset is pretty small. I have a small head so it's not a problem for me, but someone with a larger head may have a different experience. Because of the small size they also sit on the head a little weird, bowing out at a harsh angle when they're being worn. (see pic)
A couple of my colleagues had noted that the mic volume seemed to be a little lower than my laptop mic I was using prior. They said they could hear me clearly, just a little fainter than previously. I don't know if this is a software or hardware issue, but it's worth noting. The mic also sits a little further away from the mouth than I'd like. This is so that it stores nicely which it does, but if I'm being picky, I would've paid the extra cost to get an adjustable mic arm, just to give me peace of mind.
The sound quality is also not the greatest. I'm a musician, and I find that I have to use better headphones for listening to music as everything sounded distant and a little muddy with very little bass. This is ok because they connect USB, and I can connect my headphones via the 3.5mm jack but again worth noting if you are planning on using these for listening to music or podcasts while you work. For conference calls, they were more than adequate. Could hear voices just fine.
The last con and to me is the biggest issue with this headset...The dumb promotion included in the box that said I was a "lucky customer" to receive a gift card if I leave a 5 star review. bull-ogna. My experience was nothing but positives until I saw that and was immediately turned off. They have a nice quality good product here, there's no need to have some guerilla marketing tactic to boost your ratings. I probably would've given it 5 stars if it weren't for that card. It cheapened the entire otherwise positive experience. If it had been leave a review get a gift card, sure maybe, but it had to be 5 stars.
Overall, the product gets 5 stars. The company gets 3 for trying to bribe/coerce people into leaving biased reviews. No thanks.
I'd still recommend this product to someone looking for a good looking headset that is comfortable and gets the job done.
