This author's books are all predictable, which is why I read them when I need to lighten up my mood a bit. I am an atheist, but I read Christian fiction because I really hate sex scenes in books. I just skip over the preachy parts. It is more difficult to read regular romance and not be deluged with vivid descriptions of body parts. The characters are really cute. I bought the book when it came out but mislaid it so I bought the kindle version so I could always have access to the recipes inside. The spaghetti and meatballs are really fantastic.

I fell in love with Mrs. !Miracle and her quotes at the beginning of each chapter. The inclusion of recipes for the food mentioned in the story was a pleasant surprise -- several of which I will try.

Having seen the Hallmark Movie, I was leery of reading the book. You know how it is, usually so disappointing but this time it was not. The move was fairly true to the book with some minor adjustments and a shorter story, which is completely understandable. For those of you who haven't seen the movie, it omits the story of the Palmers for the sake of time but it doesn't lose anything really. The rest is there and closely follows the book in the important matters. If course, a book always has a lot mire detail so you get into the minds of the characters in wats that are not possible in a movie. So if you hesitate for the reason I did, I don't think you will be disappointed. 😊😉

For those of you not familiar with this author, Debbie Macomber is the equivalent of the Hallmark Channel giving you a massive, cinnamon scented hug, whilst a cake bakes in the oven and a mug of hot chocolate steams gently beside you. They are my go to comfort books. I adore them and Mrs Miracle is one of Debbie Macomber's best loved characters.

Laurel and Zach have moved in with Laurel's beloved Grandmother, Helen, as they try a round of fertility treatment. Left devastated when this and a subsequent adoption fails and growing increasingly concerned about Helen's failing memory, the family decide to bring in a carer companion for Helen to provide additional support to the struggling family. Enter Mrs Miracle as Helen's companion, who when she arrives, lets slip to Helen that she is in actual fact an angel sent to answer Helen's prayers for Laurel. The 2 ladies quickly put their heads together. Will Laurel and Zach get the baby they have been yearning for? and will Helen learn to love her life again? With Mrs Miracle's help, you had better believe it!

Mrs Miracle features in a number of Debbie Macomber's Christmas books, but these can all be read without knowledge of the others. I love these books because they are always marvellous Christmas stories with a hopeful message. The characters are good people dealing with difficult situations. Helen is delightful and so very kind and I enjoyed seeing Helen getting her mojo back! Shirley, Mercy and Goodness, Mrs Miracle's friends and fellow angels, also make a reappearance to help the process along the way and as usual cause a little havoc along the way. The message is simple, Have Faith! And whatever your religious choices or not, it is a message that speaks to a lot of people.

So if you are feeling a little frazzled by all the Christmas preparations or life in general and if you are able to 'step out' for a moment, take some time, find a quiet spot (and maybe a hot chocolate or mince pie) and curl up with this novel. It is truly a balm for the soul.

I liked reading this book because it was just right for a Christmas read. I liked the two Mrs Miracle films that I have watched, and reading about her was fun. Helen is old and getting dementia which is upsetting her granddaughter, Lauren and her husband Zac. Needing a carer to be with her while they are working, they are given the opportunity to have Mrs Miracle to help. I liked how they interacted with each other.

Four years ago Seth Webster's wife died in a tragic car accident and he sent their twin boys to stay with his in-laws. Now the twins are 6 and have returned to live with him, they are going through housekeepers like there's no tomorrow. Seth is at the end of his tether when Emily Merkle turns up on his doorstep. "Mrs Miracle" as she is called by the twins quickly becomes part of the family, and she may even help Seth with his crush on local travel agent Reba. Could the Webster's get a Christmas miracle after all?

Like the other reviewer said this is a little Mary Poppins inspired, but also has a sweet love story to accompany it. This was one of my Christmassy books for this year, and I'm really glad I picked it up. I loved Seth and Reba, and it was great to see each of them battling with their pasts to create a better future for themselves. Judd and Jason (the two twins) are hilarious at times, and it's fab seeing what trouble the two of them can stir up.

The story doesn't just focus exclusively on Seth and Reba though - there are also plotlines about Seth's in-laws Sharon and Jerry, and local busybody Harriet Foster (who gets exactly what she deserves). The book has also been turned into a movie which is unfortunately only available as a region 1 dvd at the moment ( Mrs Miracle [DVD] [2009] [Region 1] [US Import] [NTSC ]). However, it is scheduled to be shown on Channel 5 this Christmas (2010) so hopefully I'll manage to catch it.

All in all this was a great seasonal read, and I'm looking forward to reading the sequel Call Me Mrs. Miracle which is also available in this UK paperback - Falling for Christmas (MIRA) .

This book is a great mix of funny and sad in so many ways. Mrs 'Miracle' arrives to become a housekeeper for Seth Webster and his twin sons. You soon realise that she has been placed with the family for so many reasons,other than housekeeping. Seth's mother and father-in-law,parents of his late wife are having major problems with their marriage, and need the magic that only Mrs Miracle can provide. So many other areas are touched by her and lives are enriched as a result. Where normally this would be a 'chick lit' book, I have just read it to my poorly husband who has enjoyed it thoroughly. We also thought the Christmas film made of the same name was very good and although some of the characters in the book were left out, it remained faithful to the original book. Well worth a read, I am about to commence another by Debbie macomber to read aloud to my husband.
