Mrs. Morris and the Ghost: Mrs. Morris Mystery Series, Book 1 Audible Audiobook – Unabridged
Charlene Morris knew Salem, Massachusetts, had a spooky reputation. But when she decided to open her B&B there, she expected guests - not ghosts....
A grieving young widow, Charlene needed a new start - so she bought a historic mansion, sight unseen, and drove from Chicago to New England to start turning it into a bed-and-breakfast.
On her first night in the house, she awakens to find a handsome man with startling blue eyes in her bedroom. Terror turns to utter disbelief when he politely introduces himself as Jack Strathmore - and explains that he used to live here - when he was alive.
He firmly believes that someone pushed him down the stairs three years ago, and he won't be able to leave until someone figures out who.
If Charlene wants to get her business up and running in time for the Halloween tourist rush, and get this haunting house guest out of the way, she'll have to investigate. Though truth be told, this ghost is starting to grow on her....

For those looking for a beautifully-crafted cozy mystery series with sophisticated characters and plots—and gorgeous writing—try Carolyn Haines’ “Sarah Booth” books.
Traci Wilton, Author/s of “Mrs. Morris and the Ghost” has/have written a delightful, charming, cozy mystery and entertaining novel. The Genres for this novel are Cozy Mystery, Fiction, Mystery and Suspense, and Para-Normal. The story takes place in New England, in a historic older house. The author describes her characters as complex, complicated, quirky, spooky, and suspect. The cat in the story has a unique personality. The timeline is in the present and goes to the past when it pertains to the characters or events.
Charlene Morris is a young widow who moves from Chicago for a new start in New England. She hopes to make the large house she has bought into a Bed and Breakfast. In order to make it possible, Charlene has found local residents that can help her fix up the mansion, and attend to the many needs she has. In the quaint town, she finds that everything seems to center on the importance of a person based on his or her family roots. Charlene is also shocked to find that her house has some unusual surprises.
One is a handsome ghost, Dr. Jack Strathmore that has been part of the house since his death for three years. He is not sure what happened, but to move on, there must be some unfinished business, or possibly he was murdered. Charlene seems to be the only one who can see his presence. Charlene is ambivalent if she wants Jack to stay or go, and the only way that can happen is to solve the mystery of what happened to him. The only one that can help Jack do that is Charlene.
The characters that Charlene meet all seem capable or suspect of murder. There are twists and turns, danger, wit, and murder. I would highly recommend this entertaining, mesmerizing and enchanting novel.
This first book in the Salem B&B Mystery series is a wonderful cozy mystery. It held my interest and kept me guessing with a red herring or three. The authors, Traci Hall and Patrice Wilton, have done and excellent job of co-writing a seamless gem of a mystery. I am looking forward to this series.
The usual beautiful (widowed, not just single) heroine looking to escape family and memories to start over somewhere else.
The hunky potential love interest. The gossipy middle-aged lady. The gossipy cafe/store staff. The evil beautiful "mean girl". And the ghost - always hunky and gorgeous, disappointed in love.
The glorious massive mansion with suspect workers, ready to be turned into a smashing B&B success story.
All the cliches are here. I don't think I need to read any of the sequels. YMMV, but I'm deleting this from my Kindle.
Charlene was shocked to find out she was really sharing the house she'd bought to make into a B&B with a ghost, but they quickly became friends as she tried to figure out who had killed the good doctor. The plot twist at the end was so good! I thought someone else had done it for sure. An online book club that I'm in is discussing the book this month, and I am really looking forward to that. I've already preordered the second book and read the excerpt at the end of this book for it. It sounds like it takes up about a week after this book ends.
