When Chicago detective Alec Buchanan is offered a prime position with the FBI, he takes it as the perfect opportunity to leave the Windy City and follow in his brothers’ footsteps to the top echelons of law enforcement. But first he must complete one last assignment: acting as a glorified bodyguard to hotel heiress Regan Hamilton Madison. The gorgeous exec has become entangled in some potentially deadly business: Someone has e-mailed her a graphic crime-scene photo - and the victim is no stranger. Regan suspects that the trouble started when she agreed to help a journalist friend expose a shady self-help guru who preys on lonely, vulnerable women. In fact, the smooth-as-an-oil-slick Dr. Lawrence Shields may have been responsible for the death of one of his devotees. Hoping to find some damning evidence, Regan attends a Shields seminar. At the gathering, the doctor persuades his guests to partake in an innocent little “cleansing” exercise. He asks them to make a list of the people who have hurt or deceived them over the years, and poses the question: Would your world be a better place if these people ceased to exist? Treating the exercise as a game, Regan plays along. The experience is all but forgotten - until the first person on Regan’s list turns up dead. Shock turns to horror when other names from the list start to surface as corpses, and a harrowing tango of desire and death is set into motion. Now brutal murders seem to stalk Regan’s every move - and a growing attraction to Alec may compromise her safety, while stirring up tender emotions she thought she could no longer feel. Yet as the danger intensifies and a serial killer circles ever closer, Regan must discover who has turned her private revenge fantasies into grisly reality.

liked the mystery and the characters. The romance was a stretch, but it's a great storyline with a couple twists with a little romance thrown in. which is perfect. The structure to each book in this series is the same, the author found a formula that works. Each storyline however is totally unique and is fantastic to follow. I am thoroughly enjoying this series. Alec is a detective in Chicago that just got accepted to the FBI, he is from a huge family and already had 2 brothers that are FBI and one in Justice dept. Regan is from a wealthy family and runs a charity for the family, who are hotel conglomerates. She becomes the object if obsession for a serial killer and Alec is assigned to guard her.

I loved this book. The romance portion went a little slow though. Loved how close Regan, Sophie and Cordelia have been since kindergarten. There’s some twists, who’s out murder on Regan’s “Murder list”? Alec has plans to join the F.B.I., can he fight his feelings for Megan? Something happens towards the end, can Alec get to Regan in time? Loved their happy ever after. I highly recommend this book and have loved each book in this series.

Imagine going to some reception and doing an exercise where you make a list of people you wish were no more, then losing it and all the sudden the people in that list end up dead? That is what happen to Regan. Sweet and innocent Regan. Alec is the sexy detective that comes to protect her. I loved the banter between these two. Really enjoyed this book. Adventure, tons of love from friends, some mystery and a whole lot of hotness. Kinda missed Noah in this one lol. Still think he needs his own story.

Julie Garwood's book 4 in the series is another masterpiece. She creates characters and situations that are exciting and intriguing. She weaves her other series characters into the current story so they feel like old friends. She is a masterful story teller. A must read!!!!

Regan goes to a seminar as a favor to her friends and as part of the exercise they are asked to make a list of people they would like out of their lives. Little does she know it will fall into the wrong hands. Alex is a detective who ends up meeting Regan when she calls the police about a picture of murder she receives. Great book, trying to figure out who the murderer is and why.

How did Miss Prim and Proper end up target for a murder? Regan is humoring her friends when she agrees to go to a seminar to trap a sleazy doctor who her friend feels had a woman murdered. When her Murder List is used as a hit list, Regan is suddenly in the killer's sights. Twists and turns abound, love flirts, and friendship and family ties strengthen. Excellent story!

Regan wasn't the spoiled little rich girl that one would expect, and that is exactly why she had such good chemistry with Alec from the very beginning. Like his brothers, Alec radiates an irresistible self-confidence that I loved. I enjoyed getting to know Regan's friends and family (though we didn't get to see much of her brother, Walker, and I got the feeling he would be interesting enough to warrant his own book). We got a few glimpses of Nick and Noah from some of the previous books in this series. I look forward to the next book, Slow Burn, about Dylan, the next Buchanan brother.

Not The Best In This Series

After the hot excitement of 'Slow Burn', the first of Julie Garwood's contemporary romantic suspense novels I'd read, I was looking forward to sinking into 'Murder List', which had what sounded like a really good storyline.
Unfortunately, the contents didn't really match up to the back page promise. To begin with, the prologue was, dare I say, corny and cheesy, introducing heroine Regan and her brothers when children, which didn't bode well for the rest of the story. Then you are catapulted into the mind of a killer, a very jarring change of pace!! And though the hero and heroine characters were quite well rounded, there was something about this tale that just didn't work for me.
Regan and Alec didn't have that all-important chemistry, in my opinion, and the inclusion of Regan's friends (which are made too much of here not to pop up in their own stories later on) was okay, though a bit annoying, and they seemed to take the emphasis away from Regan herself at a crucial part of the story.
All in all, I had trouble finishing it. However, I had already bought a copy of 'Shadow Dance', Alec's sister's story, and I'm only a third of the way in, but it is really good! Much more like Julie Garwood's best.

A good read if under $5 - Garwood will always be a favourite!

I was a bit confused when reading the first third of this book ... there was so much detail given on a weirdo and a crooked alcoholic cop, that I wasn't sure how the plot was going to pan out! I disliked the fact that it wasn't until over a third of the way into the story, that it was only then that Alec made his first appearance - she unfortunately really didn't get into enough depth with their relationship. I'm used to far more inter-action, wit and smart-mouthed banter between Julie Garwood's couples, and felt there just wasn't enough in this book. Although this was an excellent plot, Regan and Alec's relationship felt a little like an afterthought - meet half way through the book, have one night together, break up (but not really because they were never a couple!), then off to meet the rellies!

I have read several books of this author and I just loved them. The suspense behind and the love story are so well defined that merged amanzingly into the plot.
I really liked the part of the killer. You can really feel his struggle and his internal fight. Though at some point I felt that the story of the murder was left to a second plan.
Detective Alec Buchanan is assigned to serve as bodyguard of Regan until he leaves for a new position in the FBI, based in Boston. He is assigned for 3 weeks, after either they have catched the killer or a new detective will be assigned.I liked a lot how the love story is being built little by little, at a slow pace. Unlike other love stories that I have read where they just met and fell crazy in love for each other. This is what makes it more real and also what keeps you reading. Just want to figure out what is gonna happened.
Even though I really enjoyed the book, at some points I missed some police work and more action from that side.
