Like The Bridge series, this crime drama involves two cooperating police departments, from Germany and Austria. Also like The Bridge, one of the characters - the female detective, Hannah - has some sort of personality problem. Aspberger's? Childhood trauma? The result is that she is good at her job, extremely data driven, but cannot relate to people emotionally. Her more-emotional male partner is married to his job, but not to his family. He lies to his wife, who thinks he's having affairs. So, a lot of Murder By The Lake concerns these familial tensions, which drag on and on and interrupt the flow of the crimes and their solutions. I like murder, mayhem and detective work in crime dramas, not jealous wives who feel neglected. I do some major skipping in this show.
