About the Author

Willa Cather (1873–1947), an American author and Pulitzer Prize recipient, is best known for her portrayals of frontier life, European immigrants, and Native American culture on the Great Plains in such novels as O Pioneers!, The Song of the Lark, and My Ántonia.

Cather moved from her hometown in Virginia to Nebraska when she was a child. Her father, Charles, farmed the land for nearly two years before settling with his family in the prairie town of Red Cloud. The land and people she encountered left an indelible mark on the young writer.

From Library Journal

Cather's classic gets the red carpet treatment here. Along with the full text, the volume also includes historical essays and explanatary notes by scholar James Woodress along with 15 photographs and two maps.
