Throughout the first 3 books, the characters will learn something or be given information, then later in the book they hear or see the exact same thing and act surprised and say they didn't know. The author needs a little better organization in his story development. Only reason for the loss of a star. Otherwise its a great storyline.

I’ve enjoyed the first couple of books in the series but it is beginning to feel a bit stale. Character growth has slowed considerably, even despite the great adventures they experience. The dialogue is choppy at times & unnatural, and there is unacknowledged repetition. The characters will learn or experience something in an earlier chapter (or book) and then act surprised when they learn it again. It almost feels as if it is being written by (really advanced) AI and then not edited enough to make it flow correctly. I’d suggest the author slow down & spend more time editing/re-writing as needed to improve the quality of the writing. The concepts and adventures are great but need to be handled more thoroughly.

A couple things I liked less is the nominal increase of curse words-my preference would be to leave cussing to adult books and not to YA books even when given to the bad guys or at moments of surprise. Of course I see that the world world has even further diverted from my ideal.

Secondly and maybe related is how will the attractions play out that are introduced here. I’ll of course read on and see.

As usual the circumstances of the story are having the characters mature in serious ways. The danger in books is whatever way the story arc goes will be thought the norm by some readers. This series is already well beyond the decision
phase with morals, since it has 13 volumes already. But I hope that was considered.

Otherwise I’m enjoying it and will read volume four eventually.

Theres more drama and higher stakes. The action really ramps up drastically and the war begins.
Some small issues. This series is mostly great at writing normal women but one girl is described completely differently to the others which threw me a bit, only a small gripe though among a few others. Nothing that would ruin the experience or anything.
The friendships continue to be the best part of the series so if you enjoy that this book is great for you, but also theyre all in danger now.
It genuinely creates a real, dangerous world to read about and am excited for the next.
