The case arrives well protected in a sturdy cardboard box. The case itself is not completely hard, but it is very sturdy and rigid enough to maintain its shape and offer good protection. The one sent to me for review had the top crushed in from shipping, but it pushed right back into shape and was undamaged. The case is zippered, and the two zippers have sturdy handles that make it easy to zip and unzip the case. It also has a convenient carry handle on it. The inside of the case has a foam cutout on the bottom for the lithium ion battery part of the jump starter, and there is a side cutout large enough to hold the charging cable and 12-volt adapter. The lid of the case has a large enough compartment to store the jumper cables but not much else. Everything fits into the case, although the fit is snug. But that’s a good thing. Nothing bounces around when you carry the case.
This zippered case is perfect for the NOCO GB40 jump starter. It is clearly a custom fit and keeps everything neatly contained in one durable, compact case. It is perfect for securely storing the emergency jump starter and can easily be transported from one vehicle to another. I like it so well I purchased a second one for my other GB40 jump starter. Anyone who owns a NOCO GB40 jump starter would like this case to protect their $100 automotive emergency investment and keep it handy for use. Its cost is minimal and money well spent.
I started with their 4 bank charger and still am impressed with that.
I went through 2 cheaper lipo jump starters before I got this one. Get a NOCO case if you buy.
I can't remember the last time I charged it, and have jump started my riding mower, my truck, the neighbors wife's car, my work Truck, and charged my cell phone during an emergency trip to the hospital. Who keeps a wall charger in their car! Not me.
I haven't tried it on any of my diesel pickups because I haven't had to but I don't think this is powerful enough.
What I don't like is how big the alligator clips are for the battery. They are really big and hard to use on any German car or truck with a brace over the battery.
The GB40 unit does not fit the case unless you put an extreme bend in the charge port cover and force it into place. My concern is the plastic hinge on the cover will eventually break.
The USB cable does not fit into accessory compartment. The GB40 cable is much longer than what is depicted in the diagram and has a ferrite choke. So the cable has to be stuffed next to the clamps in the clamp pocket .
Finally the clamps have to be placed in the clamp pocket in a precise manner (one behind the other). They easily slip out of place preventing the case from closing. If I ever needed to use the jump starter, I would probably just throw the the booster & cables in the car afterwards and wrestle with the case later.
I originally thought to return the case, but seeing that I would rarely need to use the jump starter, I decided to keep it. I found it is difficult to find a case - there are different versions for the GB40 with different clamps. So when looking for a case make sure it matches the model you have.

A secure zipper ensures that the contents are kept intact.
The case is well made, with a secure zipper and complements the charger nicely and appears durable.
If you look in the picture you can see that it clearly does not fit the GB40 very well and the tabs need to be bent back which puts a lot of stress on them. You also can’t fit the USB cable in as pictured without trying to force it in and the clamps need to be fitted in a very specific position.
That said, once you figure out the orientation of the clamps and accept putting the charger upside down which doesn’t look as good, this is a very sturdy and good looking case which feels like it will last forever!
Frustratingly this would all be fixed in making a specific case for each model rather than being cheap and making two separate ones but maybe this will come in the future?
The battery cable only just fits in the case. The clamps have to be arranged in a specific way to get the zip to close.
