Reality star Erin Easton's "Wedding of the Century" may have a cable crew documenting every extravagant bridal detail, but when "Airhead Easton" disappears from the reception, it's no diva turn. Her dressing room is empty but for a blood-spattered wedding gown and signs of a struggle.
Detective Kylie MacDonald of NYPD Red, already on-scene as a plus-one, loops in her partner, Detective Zach Jordan to activate Level One mobilization for this PR nightmare. But when Erin's "proof of life" video makes it to air—rather than to evidence—every A-lister on the guest list becomes a target of suspicion . . . or just a target.

About the authors
JAMES PATTERSON is one of the best-known and biggest-selling writers of all time. His books have sold in excess of 375 million copies worldwide. He is the author of some of the most popular series of the past two decades – the Alex Cross, Women’s Murder Club, Detective Michael Bennett and Private novels – and he has written many other number one bestsellers including romance novels and stand-alone thrillers.
James is passionate about encouraging children to read. Inspired by his own son who was a reluctant reader, he also writes a range of books for young readers including the Middle School, I Funny, Treasure Hunters, Dog Diaries and Max Einstein series. James has donated millions in grants to independent bookshops and has been the most borrowed author of adult fiction in UK libraries for the past eleven years in a row. He lives in Florida with his wife and son.
MARSHALL KARP co-created and coauthored the NYPD RED series with James Patterson. Featuring Detectives Kylie MacDonald and Zach Jordan, RED is dedicated to solving crimes committed against the city’s rich and famous.
After six bestsellers James asked Marshall to take on the series. "Marshall always manages to surprise readers with the twists and turns of his plotlines," Patterson said. “Now when I read the books I'll have no idea how they end."
NYPD RED 7: THE MURDER SORORITY will be released 11/22/22.
But first, there’s SNOWSTORM IN AUGUST. When Central Park is strafed with 4000 pounds of cocaine, the only NYPD unit trained to go up against this level of terrorism has been disbanded, so the task falls to former NYPD captain Danny Corcoran and a global network of cops who share a common designation: NYPD (RET.)
Marshall is also the author of the critically acclaimed Lomax and Biggs Mysteries, and has written numerous TV sitcoms, a play, and a feature film. More at www.karpkills.com

If you have a sense of humor and are a sucker for surprises, you will totally enjoy this book.
For the first half of the novel, I didn’t find myself as engrossed as with previous books in the series. I think part of that was because we already knew who the kidnapper was in the main part of the story (there is also a robbery gang that Zach and Kylie are searching for as a secondary element), and partly because it was kind of frustrating to me that Zach still seems to be carrying a torch for Kylie after all this time.
I had planned to give this 4 stars based on the fact that I really enjoy these characters and the styling of the story, even if I figured there wouldn’t be any big bangs to the plot. But I was wrong. There was an element I did not see coming, and that’s what bumped it up to 5 stars. I don’t know if I was asleep at the wheel or what, but color me surprised. This is why I love this series. I tend to let my guard down and just enjoy the story as it happens, rather than searching so hard for clues and twists (which is my usual M.O.).
The conclusion was very satisfying. I hope that they continue to make more in the series, because I will definitely continue reading them. As a side note, I really liked that we got a couple chapters from Kylie’s perspective, which is a first.
wedding and is kept hidden and is abused for days before she escapes
and a surprise ending!
