About Nancy Tillman
Nancy self-published her first book, On the Night You Were Born, in 2005. Her goal with On the Night You Were Born, and subsequent books, has always been to give parents words to say what they feel about their children. Nancy’s illustrations are created digitally using dozens of layers of illustrative elements. These layers are eventually merged to form a composite, at which point texture and mixed media are applied.
Nancy’s books are published by Feiwel and Friends, an imprint of Macmillan. Thus far five of her books have been New York Times bestsellers.
Nancy lives in Portland, Oregon with her husband, a pug and a Swiss Mountain Dog. She’d have a giraffe if she could, but her husband won’t let her.

With all of my heart, I believe it is true
that there is a heaven for animals, too.
The heaven of animals is a magical place. Angels know every dog's favorite game; cats bask in their own rays of sunshine; horses thunder across the sky.
The loss of a pet is heartbreaking. But in the heaven of animals, the love you have for your animal friends lives on. National-bestselling author Nancy Tillman's message of comfort will help readers of all ages through the process of grieving and healing.
There are things about you quite unlike any other.
Things always known by your father or mother.
So if you decide to be different one day,
no worries… I'd know you anyway.
Every child is special and unique, but every child also loves to dream of being something different. We woke up in the usual way,
but it was not a usual day.
Out on the lawn, plain as could be,
stood an orange wishing tree.
"I wish!" I said. "I wish!" said you.
And so our double wishes grew.
Wishes are a magical part of childhood. Whether we wish on stars or blow out candles on a cake, our dreams matter. Nancy Tillman captures the wonder of wishes as only she can, with love.
Tumford isn't really a terrible cat. It's just, like many children, Tum loves to make loud noises. But today, his parents are not in the mood. They have friends coming over and Tummy isn't just loud. No, Tumford is rude!

But even though he feels bad, he has a hard time saying, "I'm sorry." Will the fact that his owners love him, no matter what, help Tummy say the magic words?
We’re not all the same. Thank goodness we’re not.
