I absolutely love The Final Formula Series. This book is more about James (the hell hound), Ely ( the good necromancer) Neil (the bad necromancer). .....Ely was going to work when she smelled death, what she thought was a zombie was James. In her naivety, she commanded James and blood bound him. She was going to take him to her family home, she thought Grams could help undo the blood bound. They ran into "car problems" getting there. They stopped at a store to get refreshments. As they were leaving robbers came in and shot the cameras out. James switched to hellhound to fight the robbers. Shots were fired. In the end the pregnant cashier was mortally wounded. James so her soul slipping away. Something had to be done to keep the baby alive. With no choice, Ely made her a lich keeping the body alive until help arrived. James and Ely left. Ely was drained of energy for using her magic. James drove and stopped on a country road. He couldn't leave Ely there by herself so he stayed. Upon awakening, Ely realized James wasn't evil. Doug was at Grams house another necromancer. Doug took her to Neil. Neil had an evil plan. He used James , drained his blood and called Gavin (James's brother) Neil promised to make Gavin a hellhound with James blood. It worked and Gavin tried to kill James. Ely started to realize her strengths and help James run Gavin off. James and Ely made it back to his apartment throughout the portal. They fell asleep. Ely awoke at a strange noise. ThAt noise was Era trying to suffocate Ely to find out what she had done to James. With everyone calm because James woke up, he explained the situation. now the three of them would go see Addie so she could fix this mess. James and Ely make a good couple......I hope there is another book after this. I'm recommending this series to everyone. There are strong characters, great storylines, good times and bad times. It really is an AwEsOmE series

How James Meets Elysia.

The Necromancer's Betrayal is how James meets Elysia. This is a novella that takes place after the end of book 2 and obviously before book 3. It is fairly fast paced like the other books in this series. It is well written and the characters well defined.

This book is predominantly about James and Elysia, and the mayhem she has creates. It seems to take place mostly from Elysia's POV, with James' POV at all other times. You find out what Neil's been up to after the events of book 2, and further introduced to Doug. Ian Mallory is also mentioned, our favorite Lich King.

Overall, I found this novella well worth reading. It fills in any gaps or questions between books one and two. I'm looking forward to reading book 3. Great exciting read.

This story moves really fast, especially the ending. It gives you more insight into James and you learn even more about his character. If you didn’t like him very much before, you should love him after reading this story. Elysia is a new addition to the series and it took me some time to warm up to her. But once I did, I liked her. There is also more about Doug and Neil, so you are getting more background into that family of Necromancers. I really liked how it filled in some of the characters. The best part was that you were not sure who was betrayed and who was the betrayer until the end of the story.

This novella introduces a new character who becomes involved with James. Whoa! She is a necromancer- not good. She is also very special and the relationships of various characters become complicated. Everyone is concerned that she and James are becoming “close.” An unnatural situation. Elysia does not want to be a necromancer and has not studied or practiced her magic. This puts her and James in jeopardy as they get captured by 2 rival evil necromancers. She has a lot to learn- however her great-grandfather Ian hesitates to properly teach her about her very strong magic. More danger and intrigue. Another great, short read by Ms. Andre.

What a great story! Elysia and James! A Necromancer and a grim. The plot was beautifully woven with James becoming blood bonded to Elysia. Then of course nasty Neil and Doug got into the mix along with Gavin. Neil continues on his quest to become the greatest Necromancer ever while trying to destroy any one, Necromancer, Element, human, Grim or Lich on his way. Potions, blood, fighting, deception, betrayal, birth and death are part of the story. Fast paced and sometimes terror help make this a great read. I love this series! Regardless of the time between releases I've never had to go back and re-read a single bit of a previous book to familiarize myself again with the story. Unique characters. Unique storyline. Becca Andre fleshes out her characters well, without depending on cliches. There is enough sexual tension to keep you riveted, instead of rolling your eyes and thinking "if her breath "hitches" one more time I'm going to scream.
Alchemy, magic old and new, amnesia, cursed bloodlines, there is a bit of everything and the author puts it together seamlessly in great stories. Good read!

The first thing that jumped out at me was that, unlike the other books in the series, this story focuses on different characters, one new to the series, the other Addie's "best friend." As was the case with all the other books, I found the writing to be more than competent. This volume moves along at a good clip and fits into the overall story arc very well. I enjoy these books and plan to stick with them.

Just like the novels, the story is fast-paced and fun. Normally, I'm not a huge novella fan, but I love how these novellas in the Final Formula series get us into the heads of other characters. I really enjoyed this book and look forward to book 3!

If you've already read this series you know you're in for the usual great read.
As with the previous 'between the numbers' the focus is on James, and side steps the main storyline in the main series.
While this can be read as a stand alone, think you get most enjoyment from starting with book one.
A fun exciting (short) book which gripped me in from the start.
Strongly recommend to help with the wait for book 3 in the series.

I'm not as invested in James and Ely as much as I was James and Rowan in the last .5 book, mainly because Rowan is my favourite character, but it's still a great read and introduces Ely nicely for the next whole number book.
