Update 10/2018 - so I've been using these for about a year now and am still pleased. I gave this product the fifth star because I think I figured out what Nestle is doing to up the strength on their pods. For a couple of reasons, I think Nestle is adding in some freeze-dried instant coffee into their capsules. "Flavor crystals" if you will. I usually pull double shots and for a while I was using two capsules to get the flavor I wanted. Now I've started using one capsule and little freeze dried added to the cup and am getting a cup equal to the Nespresso pods. (Trader Joe's has the best freeze-dried coffee if available to you.) This is why no one can come up with pods equal to Nespresso strength — Nestle cheats!
I have a CitiZ machine and it has no problem with the plastic capsules. But if your machine struggles, you can pre-pierce the capsule with a knife which will work much better.
So this capsule with a measuring teaspoon of instant and I have a perfect double for .30¢ a cup.
To my pleasant surprise, the coffee tastes good, really good. Someone suggested that the capsule be shaken and the plastic part be punctured before it goes into the machine and I did shake the capsule and punctured the backside with a fork before putting it in the machine.
I have Nespresso Citiz and so far I don't have any problem with these capsules breaking or messing with the machine as in the reviews. Unless you have highly sophisticated taste buds (which I don't) this coffee will be good, actually very good. The aroma is as good as any other Nespresso capsules and I can drink three cups for the price of one. If there is a way to upload the smell and the taste of coffee, I would. Ha ha.
One caveat is you probably will have to use these capsules within certain time, since the packaging may not preserve the aroma too long. I have stopped drinking Nespresso for 2-3 years after switching to Keurig machine before coming back to it and used Nesspresso capsules left from the previous purchase. They still had the aroma intact which was a surprise. But this coffee doesn't seem to have that kind of solid packaging.
I have a Nespresso Inissia and have been using SealPod's stainless reusable capsules and some other lid. I roast my own coffee, but using reusable capsules is hit or miss, usually miss on getting strength, crema, and consistency. Yet, I didn't want to pay $0.70 or more per cup for Nestpresso pods. So, seeing this at $0.25 a pod and reading the reviews, I thought I'd give it try.
Wow! As other reviewers have said, it's not quite as good as Nespresso's original pods, but pretty darn good. Good crema, works perfect in my Inissia, and what a savings1 I got the Magia blend, which like I said is pretty good. Didn't taste this plasticy taste like some reviewers said, and as far as I can see there are no busted pods in the box.
I'll defnintely be buying more of these!
I'll be sure to order more.

I got the response and here it is. I am so glad they are 100% pure. I am upping the rating to 5 stars:
thank you for contacting us. The modified atmosphere method is used exactly to avoid the use of any preservative or stabilizer ingredient.
Modified atmosphere means that inside the capsule there is not regular air, but air "modified" so that the different components of air (oxygen, nitrogen, etc) are present in optimal proportions so that the coffee will naturally stay fresh and intact for a longer period of time without the use any preservative ingredient.
Virtually all coffee pods, and most of prepackaged food items that are shelf stable are packaged with this method.
Should you need any further info, please just let me know"
One additional note. These capsules do not fit as snugly into our "Original" line of Nespresso machine as the Nespresso brand capsules do. This is not unique to this brand. I have noticed it with other non-Nespresso capsules also. They still work. You just need to be a little more careful how you insert the capsule. It will not appear to be seated properly, but if you insert it with a little care and close the lever it will work just fine.
Nespresso pods (obviously those are going to taste best, they're crazy expensive) but these still taste really good and if you never tasted the Nespresso pods you would think they're perfect. Definitely try this brand, I'm ordering the Ristretto pods next and will update this review after I try them :)
Sometimes they don't fit as perfectly into the machine and it makes a weird noise when closing the pod tray, but it seems to be still working perfectly. Highly recommend!
Been using these still for over a year, machine works fine, and I now use the ristretto pods.. I think they’re a bit stronger than the lungo, so I’ll often make a double. These are super awesome, especially if you make a lot of lattes or cappuccinos because you don’t need the highest quality espresso if you’re mixing it with tons of milk.. give these a try :)
Pods work very well in my pixie.
The best tasting non-original nespresso coffee I tried, really match original nespresso ristretto.
At this price it's a very good deal.
The box I received was sealed and I count 100 pods in it.
The flavour is good, decent crema, and strong enough for an espresso. I would rate Nespresso higher in both flavour and creama but remember these are almost a third of the price.
These capsules can't be easily recycled like Nespresso capsules if you care for the planet. You could try to pry each capsule apart, compost the grinds and recycle the plastic parts but that's a lot of work. This is the only major knock against these capsules.
The pods are outrageously priced at a little over a dollar a shot, but knew that there were other pods that could be purchased at a fraction of the price.
Having come from all kinds of coffee beans, I would like to think I know espresso.
These particular pods taste good for the cost, although I find they are harder to puncture than the regular Nespresso pods?
Another review mentioned they spoke to the manufacturer and said there are no preservatives in these (the way they are packaged makes the difference). Not sure I buy that, but perhaps they don’t add anything and that’s nice to know (if it is indeed accurate).
Mine came in one big box, which although came broken, none of the pods were damaged or missing. Maybe a yellow envelope isn’t the greatest packaging method for items like this?
I’m giving this coffee 4 stars, as I haven’t had enough time to try too many. From what I’ve experienced thus far, I will be buying more and changing my review to 5 stars soon enough.
So I mentioned that these pods seem harder to puncture. Indeed they are, the plastic material is harder than the original nespresso pods. May not seem like a big deal, but wondering how that will affect the puncturing mechanism over time (may dull it)?
1) The sales pitch on this coffee (Ristretto) - Your authentic Italian Espresso - Is pure fantasy. This coffee tastes like watered down McDonald's drip coffee. This is nothing close to espresso.
2) I am a celiac and I am not absolutely sure, but I would swear that this coffee has gluten in it. I am very specific about all the food and drink that goes into my body because of the effects that gluten and soy do to me, and when i started drinking this coffee I was hit by a wave of horrible effects that only gluten and soy do to me.
So if i could give this product less than a star, i would.
For $0.35 a pod, this brand is really good! I'm assuming its a medium-bold roast. Ristretto is probably stronger. I haven't tried Nespresso brand coffee yet, but I really can't see it being a better value especially if you are like me and have about 2-3 espressos a day.
If someone has a great-tasting replacement for genuine Nespresso pods, please let me know. In the meantime, I will not touch these knock-offs again and will order another batch of genuine Nespresso pods.
I've had the ristretto and passione. I'll be ordering the lungo next.
