“Claws” does not rhyme with “indoors”!!!

This would have gotten 5 stars if the first page wasn’t the worst non-rhyme ever. “Claws” doesn’t not rhyme with “indoors”!!! After the 3rd time trying to read this aloud to my baby, I legit had to scratch it out with sharpie and make up a new rhyme that actually rhymes, it was bothering me so much. Other than that, my nine month old loves the book and feeling all the different textures as I read to her.

My granddaughter has Autism and has texture issues and she loves these books. They are made to stand up to toddler abuse with heavy cardboard pages. I love that every page has a different rubberized texture for her to feel and the colorful illustrations hold her interest. The cute rhyming story with the different types and size of font is visually interesting to her as well. I highly recommend this book!! As well as the others in the series!

I should have read the reviews... We have another book in the series called "Never Touch a Porcupine" that we love. It rhymes, it's fun to read, and overall really cute. My son was looking at the little pictures of other books in the series on the back, and kept asking for the one with the dragon. So I found it on Amazon and got it for him. Normally I read reviews for absolutely everything, but I didn't think it was necessary for a kids book. Turns out the first page has a flaw that seriously bothers me. Enough that I need to return it... The words "claws" and "indoors" do not rhyme when clearly they are supposed to because that is how the rest of the book reads! How did that even make it past the editors?? In addition, the words "curvy, curly, claws" is a bit of a tongue twister. I have to read that page so slow so I don't mess it up. Really dumb. Otherwise the rest of the book is alright, and the illustrations are cute and vibrant.

I bought this for my son's first birthday. He's in the stage of looking at books and turning the pages and the textures add extra entertainment for him. There's numerous complaints about the first page not rhyming perfectly, and for me, it wasn't that big of a deal. I only noticed it at all because I read a bunch of reviews here before buying the book. The storyline is simple but still cute and keeps my one and four year old entertained when we read it. All the textures are made of the same material, silicone, but that doesn't bother me at all because the textures are different patterns. If anything it helps make it easy to clean if baby has a sticky hand and gets the silicone messy.
My only reason for taking away a star is because of the lack of packaging. The book was slightly damaged when we got it even though the envelope wasn't beat up or torn at all. Seller should have some sort of covering on the book to help protect it.
