Divorce Implications
Verified purchase
star studded exploration of implications of divorce. The film was clearly made (perhaps 1986) before the male lead was divorced from his real job in a then extant stock exchange and was replaced with criminal gang run "computer" systems. He seems to have done better at adapting to his "New Life" than was possible about twenty years later when his career was abolished. Meanwhile the divorced wife got what she had been "saying" she wanted and found it really wasn't. Quality story, acting, photography, and production worthy of a four star rating.

Old but good.

This movie is rather old (1988) and the well known actors were, of course, much younger. The wife wanted a divorce for specific reasons but the husband did not want the divorce. It was interesting how their characters did and did not fall in love again and what each wanted and strives for in their new life; especially the wife who cherished what she did not want in her marriage. We were happy we selected this fun movie.

An old movie that tells the story of divorce.. This movie tell the story of life after a divorce, things learned, using things learned from the divorce and using the information to move forward. It's a positive story of growth.

fulfilling experience in which everyone will be so happy in the end

The problem with this movie is the the problem of the era in which it was made. Divorce is made out to be a growing, fulfilling experience in which everyone will be so happy in the end. On the plus side Alda does a good job with his character.

A light no surprise movie, just found ok to watch

Just your basic story and pretty predictable as the story line went on. Really no surprises. Did give you the impression though that some people just don't get it when it comes to relationships and how they can gorw stagnant because you do the same things over and over again and don't want to change because you see nothing wrong with just how you are living.

I was not able to finish the movie and now I cannot find it so I cannot rate it the way it should be rated. I think that if I had seen the entire movie, I would have given it a higher rating.

A New Life with Alan Alda and Ann Margaret was a love story of two people who grew apart as they stopped watering their own love garden. Starting over after a divorce is difficult as these two find they not only want to find a new love, but they still love each other.

Cute story - old movie

The twists and turns of this movie are interesting. I still think the young guy and young girl should have taken off and become a couple as the old divorced couple visited their daughter at the birth of their grandson.

That can be the sequel lol
