She stays in a cabin with Ryal, who has been the love of Her life as long as she can remember. Everyone is on the watch for any outsiders and she feels relief just being there. With the dusty backroads, small shacks, genuine folks, beautiful mountains, trees and water falls makes her feel alive again.
But the Pappas who are the rich mobsters, if You will, find out where she is and they come a calling. But those mercenaries have nothing on The Hillbillies from Beth’s Family and Friends. One by one, The mercenaries are taken out by pure ingenious ways by people on that Appalachian Mountain.
It is a story of a tragedy that turns into redemption, a story of love, and a story of how people of the Appalachia’s truly take care of their own.
You can never put down a book by Sharon Sala once Youpick it up. By the time You read the first page and start to turn it to the second, your hooked. And She will take You on a roller coaster ride with Your emotions and by the end You want to know these people. You feel as though You were there, with the characters and You miss them.
The contrasts throughout the book were exceptional. The tragedy in Los Angeles versus the redemption in Kentucky; Adam & Ike and the broken bonds between a father & his son; compared to Granny Lou and the strength and love of her extended family. The wealth of the Pappas versus the near poverty of the residents of Rebel Ridge; the ruthless approach of the mercenaries versus the simple effectiveness of the hillbillies. The energy near the end of the book was excellent; the "hunt" for Beth starting in chapter 18 had me at the edge of my seat and I cheered as the mercenaries were picked-off one by one. Brilliant!
This novel was enjoyable and very well written, wrapped-up nicely in the end without being trite.

I absolutely loved this book. It was fab. The story was told from different characters viewpoint even the bad guys.
The heroine, Beth witnesses a murder committed by a big crime boss from the window of her best friend's house. She reports this to the police and is then forced into witness protection for her own safety. The safe houses are compromised three times and on that last one, Beth escapes and calls her uncle who helps her in getting her away and keeping her safe.
In this journey she is kept hidden by family members both from her fathers and mothers side. It was wonderful to read how the families all came together to keep Beth hidden from the bad guys even though they had plenty of resentments towards her parents for leaving the town 10 years previously and the reason behind it.
Beth was separated from the love of her life, Ryal when her parents left and took her with them. Circumstances made them believe that each didn't care for the other. There was alot of resentment between them. Ryal and his brothers kept Beth safe and also allowed Ryal and Beth to resolve differences that had occurred due to others actions.
It was lovely to read and could hardly put it down. I just wanted to read more and more about this family. It was totally beautiful.
Well Done Sharon Sala!!!!
