Incredible Movie

I did not know if I was going to like this movie. I was just looking for something to watch and thought it might be least interesting. Wow, was I wrong. This was a great movie. From start to finish. I was shocked at how easily I was pulled into the story and how easily I became concerned and attached to the characters in this movie. The movie was not preachy, nor was it about justice, right or wrong or anything like that. It was simply about the love and trust between a man and his wife, and when something terrible happened that should not have happened, just how far someone will go to save their loved one. Now take that emotional stuff and mix it with some high action and you have a great movie. Sometimes I watch part of a movie and I get tired and have to watch it the next day. That's just me. But with this movie I was unable to go to sleep until I saw the conclusion. This movie also gave no clues as to any kind of resolution. Which means that you can't guess the ending. This movie is a winner.

One of the coolest movies ever..

Starts out slow but becomes an engaging, cerebral, fast-paced thriller with many unexpected turns. Never 'plays down' to its audience. Well written with excellent acting from the major players.

A skeptical wife starts out unintentionally sabotaging the rescue effort with her indifference, but begins to buy in to the plan and her husband's unexpectedly tactical mind as he shows his tenacity. Trust is almost completely demolished at times but then gets rebuilt even stronger. It will take competence, foresight and a little luck to get them through, but her husband NEVER gives up. If this movie had lasted 5 hours i would barely have noticed.

I liked this more than I thought I would ... it was a good waste of time ... sure some of it might not have been plausible ... but it's A MOVIE ... I just wanted something to enjoy and watch with a decent ending ... and this turned out to be it ... I really like good endings these days ... and I liked all of the characters ...

This is so ridiculous, it defies comprehension!!

Of all the crimes happening in that city, suddenly, solving a meth gang murder is top and HIGHEST priory for the police!
It literally takes the police 10 minutes to find out who the prime suspect is and start chasing him.....gee, we all wish police work was so efficient and expedient...pathetic!!!

Plodding from Start to Nearly the Finish

The story idea is great. But I feel like I have seen it before with more captivating actors. I love Russell Crowe, but not in this film. Liam Neeson is not convincing in it - at all - and it was pure stunt casting to even have him show up. Worst directing of a well-known actor, but shouldn't have been cast. Very casual choices for soundtrack.
No chemistry between Crowe and his leading lady. Stopped the film several times. End chase is pretty good, but not enough to save the film by any means. It wasn't a bad idea, just didn't come together.

Russell Crowe is believable as a professor turned escape artist tactician
Verified purchase
John Brennan (played by Russell Crowe) is college professor whose wife has been convicted of murder and sentenced to life in prison. All of her appeals have failed, but John refuses to give up on his dream of a future, however irrational, which includes his young son as well as his wife. Is she really guilty and would living lives as fugitives be worth it as long as they're all together? The answer to the second part of that question for John is yes. The professor turns into a brilliant tactician and forms intricate escapes plans to free his wife. He's ready to do whatever it takes to succeed, even committing to a life of crime, and as the plot unfolds there are some nicely done unexpected little twists with just enough suspense and originality to qualify this movie for 5 stars. Definitely worth a rental.

Came back purchasing this even after 7 years

I came back purchasing it 7 seven years later, after I first watched it in the cinema in 2010. This movie is that good. Also, I watched it with my ex back then, and he joked/said he'd definitely not do this for me after watching the movie. Not saying that one should find someone like Russell, but you know, there are 1000 better things to say to your partner when the movie ends. LOL.

I have not seen a movie this good in a long time

Holy s*** this movie was outstanding!! I have not seen a movie this good in a long time, years. Russell Crowe and Elisabeth Banks went beyond acting, I was riveted as if I was watching the moments of an actual life. What happens to these two is so horrifying but you can actally see how this could happen. And then, what, what would a person do. There would be so many choices, all bad, and this is what this guy does. Wow. I loved this movie. So many feelings, both actors held nothing back. And I loved the ending! If the ending had not been what I needed it to be I would have hated it. Highly reccomend this one, I never give 5 stars.
