I loved this series. After a few books there was a point when I thought I couldn't read another book, because it was almost exhausting and seemed never ending. It was irresistible though. I had to get the next book and was hooked again at the first page. In my opinion this was not only his opus magnus, but a warning. These are frightening times for our country and we are manipulated every day by powerful people much like the Arcadians. Oh, how we need a Jane Hawk in our real world.

Brilliant. Just brilliant.
It's hard to talk about this story without spoiling or giving away too many details. I'll say this: Start with book 1: The Silent Corner and conclude with The Night Window. Read them in order. It's a five-book, fifty-hour heart-pounding thrill-ride with heroes you love and epic baddies who, you hope (against hope) all have it coming in the worst possible way. I just finished Night Window but I'm going to read the whole five books again in a couple of weeks. That's how good they are.
In the main character, I loved the author's careful efforts in avoiding the infuriating stereotypes you find in other "thrillers" (you know: Male, former Seal/ Ranger/ Green Beret, infinitely deadlier and smarter than his enemies. She's the exact opposite of that). The secondary good guys and girls are also great, all dealing with struggles and life challenges, ranging from old age to war wounds, but united in their courage and determination to see the (unlikely) end to the nightmare world that Koontz has cooked up. As an IT professional, I also appreciated that Koontz put in a solid effort in researching the technology required to make the tech components of the story believable. A stretch? Sure. but it's never outlandish.
These books are awesome. At this point, my only fear is they'll make movies or TV shows out of these, and turn in a giant mess, unworthy of the original material. It's not like it's never happened.

You know you've been Koontz-ized when you turn the last page in a book and give a regretful sigh that it's over. I wanted more of Jane's story. But, I won't be greedy. The ride had to end sometime. I thoroughly enjoyed Mr. Koontz's final book in the Jane Hawk series. From book one to book four I was in Jane's corner, hoping she'd finally get to the bottom of the Techno Arcadian mystery and send the head of the organization to hell. I'm not going to mince words. These were some horrible people: killing innocents solely because they were a threat to what they believed to be a 'perfect' society? More like slavery! Okay, focusing. Those of you who've read the previous four books know that when Jane was an FBI agent, she had a colleague in the agency who was a tech genius: Vikram Rangnekar. Vikram taught Jane some of his computer skills which helped her dig up info on the techno Arcadians. In this book, Vikram becomes a key player. Mr. Koontz seems to have jumped from action concerning Jane and Vikram attempting to bring down the Arcadians; then over to two particularly vicious agents of the Arcadians Charlie Weatherwax and Mustafa al-Yamini who are pursuing Jane and Vikram; my favorite characters in the story, Bernie Riggowitz and Cornell Jasperson who're keeping Jane's son, Travis safe (I wanted to jump in the story and throttle a certain weasel who threatened Travis); and the leader of the techno Arcadians, Wainwright Warwick Hollister who's in the midst of terrorizing a talented young filmmaker, Thomas Buckle, whom Hollister has put on the Hamlet List. Mr Koontz gives us lots of action, comedy, and pathos. And horror. There were some cringe-worthy moments when I would've shut my eyes if I were watching this as a film. That ending, though. I imagined the ending in a whole different way. However, it was satisfying. You can rest now, Mr. Koontz. Until you come up with another heart-stopping series. I can't wait!

This is the final chapter in a multi-book saga that takes you down a very dark and dystopian path. A path that seems even more sinister given the political and societal mood of the day. Yes, there are a lot of things glossed over and some rather unlikely twists and turns, but on the whole, this is one of the best series I have read. As the book neared the finish, I wondered how it could end as I assumed the "good guys" would prevail. The ending was brilliant and (at least for me) very unexpected. The "bad guys" here are SO bad that you just want to see them suffer and be destroyed. Given the world of Elon Musk, Google, AI and who knows what else, this is a more plausible story than one would like to admit.

Dean Koontz is a master of language and story telling and those talents are definitely on full display in this concluding volume of the saga of Jane Hawk. I originally thought the Hawk series was to be a trilogy and was somewhat frustrated that it did not end at volume three, but the last volume more than makes up for any disappointment. This particular book and the entire Jane Hawk series ranks right along with Odd Thomas as the best character development story line Mr. Koontz ever reduced to paper. I would also “suggest” to those who missed out on the previous volumes that there is enough connectivity with earlier developed plot points contained within the pages that you can still derive immense enjoyment from this single volume (although I would strongly suggest reading all the previous volumes to not only enhance your enjoyment but to experience the flavor of the magnificent language that is so characteristic of a Koontz authored book).

After what has been a series full of suspense, hope and courage I have been waiting in anticipation to read this final installment . It certainly didnt disappoint. Jane Hawk is a character of strength who will do anything to protect her son Travis. Despite what seems on the surface to be a fantastical story you very quickly realise it might not be that far fetched. The Jane Hawk series tells us how it isn't what knocks us down that defines us but how we get up stronger than ever. Jane is someone that ot just all the great characters want to support but all the readers want to support. Dean Koontz has come up with another series, which tells a story of beating the odds, where good will prevail. I cannot recommend this series more highly.

Jane Hawk was an amazing character - it would be a different and better world with people like her in it...strong, brave and with an enormous capacity for love.

Vikram was another likeable character, as were a few others; yet the villains were despicable and really not that far-fetched from those that seek power and control today; shudder.

Overall, a tense and disturbing story with plenty of action, wisdom and cautionary reminders. Brilliantly written and thought-provoking.

Highly recommended.

The breath taking end of the five book (well either five or six books, too busy turning pages to remember how many I have read...), but a good stand alone too - but be warned it will make you want to read the others. I would thoroughly recommend this series of books - Mr Koontz has excelled again. I could go on but don't want any spoilers. Just read them if you want to be kept up at night and not want to get off the train at your stop without finishing a chapter!! Brilliant.

Have just reached the end of this , the final book in the Jane Hawk series. It didn’t disappoint! Brilliant characters, fantastic plot throughout the series and a great ending too. This has to be one of Dean Koontz best storylines, I only wish I had the imagination to write like this ! I definitely recommend this series of books, best I’ve read in a very long time.
So much detail all the way through, no characters story left unfinished and to be honest it left me thinking if this was real life I’d hope we had a Jane Hawk to save the day !!

When the first few pages in The Whisper Room came adrift I assumed it was a 'one off' fault, however, the last half of this book (Read once, picture attached.) has now come away from the spine so I must seriously worry about the supplier of this material. It can be fixed with fabric glue but this shouldn't be my job!
